we would love to get away on hols this year despite poor financial state. Can anyone recommend somewhere for 2 adults and 2 kids that would come in under €1000? We've haven't really done package hols and am quite clueless. We really aren't fussy where we go, but would like some heat. may would be ideal but def want to fly from shannon or cork and are quite nervous of ryanair!

what about something like a keykamp holiday in france or italy?

    www.keycamp.ie

they provide things for the kids to do, all you would need is flights and maybe a car.

my folks used to bring me when i was a kid and i loved it, plus it was always hot, somewhere up near lake Garda or Florence in Italy

Been on 8 Keycamp holidays and they would never be cheaper than €2500 when you factor in transportation (air / sea)!

6th June, Lake Garda for 7 nights keycamp:

    Fri 01/06/12
    Villanova 29 2 Bed + Deck
    € 281.20

flights and car will probably be another 600-700 euro if you were to fly out of dublin.

Shannon will be the limitation here. Maybe driving to france might be an option with a view of getting a boat from rosslare-cherboug and staying in one of the britanny sites?

Sorry but what sort of dates are you looking at? As you mentioned kids, I would imagine it will be the summer?

With this it might be July which is probably the most expensive month. Throw out some dates and I may be able to help.

There's nothing to be scared about RyanAir, if it was not for RA Euro travel would still be very expensive indeed.
You want heat in May so check out RyanAir, Shannon to Tenerife South for €463.92 (assuming you have a pre-paid card and all you need is carry on luggage) May 3rd to May 10th.
    This is an excellent price.
Accommodation is aplenty in Tenerife, here for example is a holidaylettings.co.uk search for those dates in Los Cristanios which is a €20 taxi from the airport.
Here is a specific example of accommodation, £180 a week.

So that's €463 + around €220 accommodation = €683 leaving you over €300 to pay for credit card charges on your flights, €40 on return taxi fare in Tenerife and rakes of spending money in a top class location with the most guaranteed chance of great weather.

We (2 adults, 3 kids) have done RyanAir + Holidaylettings for 5 years in a row without issue.
    Good luck with your search.
