    Hi Folks,

I'm a female, 5ft 4 with bf of around 15%, I exercise (spinning, and have been cycling, running etc for a few years but at very very modest paces - just my commute to work etc)... and I've been taking my RHR every morning as described and coming up with figures 27-28-28 for the last three mornings.

Also, i used the hrm in my spinning class lastnight and it corralated exactly with the bike i was on in terms of accuracy (well there or there abouts) so i don't think there's anything wrong with the instrument or anything like that.

Now i went for an ECG last year before a test i was getting done and even though i wasn't really 'resting' ie. just lying there for a minute or two and had been walking around/worked up beforehand my HR was 42. I think i have low blood pressure as well but i don't suffer with any symtoms except a little heart flutter every now and again but has anyone experienced something like this heart rate and do you think its ok?

Not looking for medical advise but as RHR is generally related to cadriov fitness i thought someone here might know about it?

    Thanks and Regards,
    Figroll

I've heard of people with these kinda of HR but it usually runs in families, if you have siblings would they have similar HR. Are you still in bed when you take your pulse? I'd usually be 4-6 beat lower when lying down. Try not to hold your breath when your taking your pulse, lots of people do this and don't even realise.

    Hi there,

Well my bro used to be a pretty handy cyclist and he said the best he ever got to was 44 odd so i don't think the others in the family have anything similar but i might get them to check.

Its possible i do hold my breath for a couple of seconds but the HR test is done on the Polar F11 and it takes 5 minutes so i'm assuming it just takes an average and i left on the monitor while i was up and about a bit yesterday morning and it was giving readings or 30-40 while talking on the phone and moving about..

I just wonder as i embark on a new year fitness push how low can it go and is it safe. I might get it checked out anyway just in case..

    Cheers,
