Sub woofers for grown ups

    Hi there,
I am a relatively well behaved adult.

I am looking for a sub woofer to just take the edge off to improve the sound in my car. I dont want one of these huge systems with fluorescent paint that take up half of your boot space.

Any recommendations? (I'm on a budget too but not buying second hand cause I'm assuming they'll have been blown or abused.
My research looks like it'll be E200+ - Is there not a cheaper way?

I'd be really grateful for any ideas

    Thanks

Kenwood make a good little one that lays flat under the front seat.

    I've seen them on eBay

Like anything Audio related, you really do get what you pay for. If I remember correctly, I think the parts (Amp, Sub, Housing) totalled about €300 for the one I built a few years back, which isn't a massive amount, but I got a good deal as I was buying a new Head Unit also. Actually on that, do you have a head unit that has a Pre Amp/Sub out? and does it have LPF/HPF or Frequency controls etc... ?

I used http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ when I made mine and their service/delivery was good, I'd recommend them but things might have changed in 3 years I guess. :)

Just to add, here is something similar to what I ended up with but all in one pack, I've not looked into the Amp specs fully, it could be decent and would be better than the Kenwood thing anyway. Price seems to be decent as well.
