Is the Lakeside gone as well?

One of the Thurles courts is still held in the Anner. Walked in for coffee one morning and was amazed at the number of suits and Guards on display.

I think it's ok, the court is often held in Eire Og in Ennis which has a drinks license

The Lakeside Hotel is not gone, but I believe the reason the court was moved from there is that they are trying to achieve a 4 Star grading and having the court and all that goes with it was not helping them.

Not as fun as some of the proceedings in the main court house after lunch if it was someone's birthday or something, there have been some great sessions in Mickey Kerin's by solicitors/barristers/judges/witnesses who were under the impression that their cases wouldn't be on the books that day only to find out that they were up at 4.

Personally I was once involved as a witness in a car accident case, didn't look like we were going to be called that day as there was a case involving a minor up so the court room had to be cleared, there was a few of us there and expenses were being covered by the insurance company, so over to Mickey's for 11s, which resulted in a few pints, which resulted in more pints, which results in doing a bit of a crawl around the pubs in the area only to be spotted by the clerk of the court while we were going from May Kearney's to MTs, the case was due to be heard at 4.30, we had been drinking for nearly 5 hours and were petrified that we'd be held in contempt, luckily the judge adjourned for the evening cause of the delay in finding us and we were up the next morning. We ended up going back to MTs like bold school children and playing pool for hours, there were a lot of sick heads in the court room the next morning but it didn't matter cause the case was settled out of court just before the case was to be heard.

The court was held in the Eire Og Clubhouse for a period about 10 years ago when the main court house building was being refurbished
Ennis District & Circuit Courts are now held in the court house on new road and won't be going back to Eire Og unless the actual court house is hit by lightning or something equally disastrous befalls it

There is nothing new about Killaloe Court operating out of licenced premises. That has been the case since 1994, when Killaloe Courthouse closed. Here is a picture of the old building which is a protected structure. http://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CL&regno=20300811

Killaloe Court sittings were then moved to the Lakeside Hotel in Ballina. The court sitting were not without its difficulties though.
As far back as 2003, a court session had to be abandoned because the Judge feared he would "mishear" evidence as a result of noise levels coming from the adjacent swimming pool. All that separated the swimming pool and the function room where the court was held were several windows. The issue was however later resolved when the windows were replaced with a concrete wall.

In September 2010, the court sittings moved back across the Shannon to the Kincora Hotel in Killaloe and remained there until the hotel went into receivership in 2011.

Once again Killaloe Court will sit in Tipperary, I'm familiar with O'Donovan's Bar is Ballina, it is quite a nice bar and the owners have invested alot of money in the place, they have a large function room which the court service will be using, the room is normally used for weddings and functions and is completely separate from the main bar so there shouldn't be too many issues.
