Ok, I'm going to start off by stating that I know this forum will probably be flooded with weight loss diaries soon enough but I hope that I can use this space to be somewhat accountable, regardless of how many people may show an interest in my journey :)

I'll give you all a quick background of where I am at and where I would like to be.

At the moment, I am 21 years old, 124.4kg and stand at 184cm tall (keeping things metric). I have always been pretty big no matter what age I was, I was 100kg on my 16th birthday, but by that time I was at about 183cm so I never looked very fat. I used this to my advantage, played rugby for years and the exercise really helped me to stay in shape and stop me putting on weight. But due to an injury, I stopped playing rugby as much as I had before, and drinking more once I turned 18, I have gone up as far as 128kg. It was then that I knew I needed to change.

So last September, I started dieting and tracking my food intake on sparkpeople.com and in the month, I went down to 124kg, I was delighted with this but I fell off the tracks a bit because college and work really started to pile up on me. I stopped being so diligent with my diet and started drinking more and to my surprise when I stepped on the scales yesterday, only gained 0.4kg in the 3 months I stopped. Now that we are in the new year I decided I will start again, except this time with more accountability here :)

It's so depressing and demoralising being overweight. All I want to do is to be at a normal weight and above all, be able to wear nice clothes! I just hope that with some good advice and encouragement, I can stop feeling sorry for myself and just live life like a normal person!

    My goals are:
    • Get down to 105kg
    • Get a waist of 34, with 36 maybe more realistic (currently 40)
    • Have more energy and feel healthier
    • Get back to decent fitness levels

My first question; are the first two goals achievable? I hope to have these achieved by mid June to July.

I will post a screenshot of yesterdays food intake so you all can have a look and point me in the right direction :)

Anyway, apologies for being so long winded, I'm just rearing to get going once again, I hope you all check in from time to time, any advice and encouragement I can get is very welcome :)

Here's yesterdays food intake! I knew the sausages weren't going to be good, but it's today that I'm making my proper start!

2200 calories is too many for you to lose weight. There are calorie calculators online that you can use to figure out how many you need. You're eating a lot of carbs too.

Thanks for the advice, I do plan on cutting out bread totally at some point, that should help with too much carbs. I have used those calorie counters and they say that for my height and weight, 2500 is enough for weight loss and that 2800 is maintenance. However, like I said, things like those sausages are not part of my plans so if I had saved those 300+ calories, I'd be under 2000.

The guy is 124kg are you mad?
2,200 is under eating if anything.
OP 1665 cals from your last day is far too few.what sort of exercise are u doing?
Also, the carbs aren't a problem. Keep the protein and fat levels the same as your first screenshot and fill the rest of the 2,500 cals with carbs.whichever ones you'll stick too.
Get exercising 3x per week...even if it's an hour long walk.no power walking...that's just gay!;)
increase your exercise slowly(an extra walk next week etc) and decrease your cals slowly(er) and you'll do just dandy.

Still trying to figure out a proper exercise routine. I work 4-5 days a week and have college on top of that so I'm usually either busy or exhausted, I need to set aside time.

I was thinking alright though that 2500 sounds like what I should be having, I'll try keep it to roughly 2200 for the first few weeks and I'll see how hungry I am with that.

And here's yesterdays report. Had work yesterday, very busy so didn't get a break for food :(

I was going to go out drinking but decided I'd stay off it for a while, went to the cinema instead. I know the popcorn isn't great but it's better than pints.
