I think this probably warrants a thread of it's own. Basically throw every meat deal you come across in here.

To start off; Cosgraves in the Omni Santry have 4 Pork Chops 4 Chicken Fillets and 1lb Round Mince for €10. That's meat for one week for one person if you portion it right!

    5 Chicken Fillets

    €20

Butchers at sallynoggin church usually have irish chicken fillets 10 for €10, I weighed them a few times and it was 1300-1400g, which is about 7.50 per kilo.

Many butchers have the 10 for 10 thing, you could always chance your arm and ask if they do 10 for 10 if there is no sign, they might say yes if you look like you will otherwise leave, esp if its a 1-2 man butchers.

Not a butcher but in my tesco the lads on the hot food counter seem to finish at the same time each day, and you can get fully cooked chickens for as low as €2, some are very overcooked though.

The butchers in Golden Island in Athlone does regular deals every weekend. Last weekend was 50% off round steak. Great deal and the meat is far superior to the supermarket stuff.

Not the most interesting website, but it will give you the contact details to get a full pricelist if interested.

    www.tullyardfarm.ie

You got that in one, why do companies bother to have a home page and nothing else, and then go try advertise and sell their website :(

I for one won't be going to e-mail them for a pricelist if they can't be bothered to put it up in their website for me.

They also have really nice spiced chops, three for €2.

To an extent I agree, but I think you're being a bit harsh. They are primarily a working farm who do a bit of retailing to boost revenue on their products. It would have been less trouble for you to ring/email for a pricelist, than to post that it was too inconvenient for you. Most meat selling (and other) retailers insist you trudge into their shop to see their prices and then trudge home again with your bag.

I was thinking the same thing! Agree with all your points Melendez. But i have to say, a location would be a benefit on their 'basic' website.

My local butcher is by far the best value as well as good quality. I always make a special trip for my meat purchases. Having said that Hams in Aldi/Lidl for boiling and baking are excellent value, and much preferred to the rubber ham flavoured sheets in the supermarkets which i refuse to buy any more.

    You mean it would have been less trouble had they just put their specials on their website, how hard is that? If they want to boost revenue as you put it then that's what they should do. The world has and still is, moving online, there is zero point to having a home page that tells you the phone number and e-mail address. A waste of hosting and design fees IMO. Compare the Tullyard farm link/website to the following online butchers that I'm aware of;

    www.sulmeat.com
    www.kerrigan-meats.com
    www.jameswhelanbutchers.com
    www.thepremiumbutcher.ie
    www.dublinmeatcompany.com

When one visits these sites one is met with the choice to buy their product, or at least where to buy it, NOT a choice to ring or e-mail them to find out prices etc.

They could at least have what this site has - www.corkmeatcompany.ie this is a really basic site, they don't sell online but they have 4 basic headings - Home, Specials, About Us and Contact

Next time you are ringing them suggest it to them (if they want to increase their revenue that is)

And speaking of specials check out these in Kerrigans butchers - I've bought from them in the past and always found their meats very good. No affiliation.
