  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,288 ✭✭✭crisco10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,467 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    It has happened twice before.
First time was in 2007 when hosted by Ticketmaster. Second when server crashed at webhosts due to capacity overflow.

Demand/traffic this morning was extremely high.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 Athena14

Again as I'm new to this: are the match day event tickets for the Italy match the same as normal tickets or will normal tickets go on sale at a later date? Thanks

It annoys me when websites crash.
It really annoys me when websites crash when administrators know what demand to expect.
It really really annoys me that we have to pay to get access to this section of the website, when they don't bother investing enough in servers to stop the website from crashing when they know what demand to expect!

that suggests three incidents in what? 4 or 5 years?

This message is now appearing on the IRFU Homepage.

    "Sale on hold
Due to extremely high demand the ticket sale is currently on hold - we will be releasing further tickets shortly"

its no excuse though - they should be able to plan for high demand/traffic - its not as if it hasnt happened before

expect them to cancel the sale and issue a new date for sale

I'm on the phone to them now, trying to find out whether or not this means in an hour or 2 or another day.

In 11 ticket sales and early doors in that time also.
Not making excuses here. Just putting right some rumours that are incorrect.

wonder what does shortly mean, minutes/hours/days?

Just got off the phone, "apparently" (really??) there are some IT issues but the ticket sales should be back on in a few minutes.

    Tickets are still available!

I wish they'd cancel the sale and restart it another day, it's annoying constantly hitting f5!

but basically half of 6N sales (i.e. the high demand ones) have failed and resulted in the stress to people we have seen on this thread and in previous years

there have been numerous discussions on trying other ways to sell tickets through the club which have all been rejected on the basis that this method is the most "fair".

Is having days like this really fair to members?

This would be a fair way if they properly invested in it!
I say give control of ticket sales to ticketmaster, they have the capacity to handle the traffic nowadays.

    From Twitter....

    irfurugbyIrish Rugby

IrishRugby.ie is open again. Ticket sale still on hold due to demand. We will keep you updated.

Its a joke really, thats why i didnt bother renewing this year, they also had a mini crash when they put on sale some tickets that came back as well.
i was sure that i had the tickets and bang disappeared !

Very poor planning as usual, and then you get the official line scotching "rumours" ahhh its not a rumour the site has crashed AGAIN !

Any ideas how to get tickets to the English match? Not part of any club

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 400 ✭✭beglee

Forgot about this, and had forgotten to renew my membership (hadnt really decided if i was going to tbh)

Think ill have to just give it a miss. €50 membership for a small chance at getting tickets from an over-capacity website? meh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭Smurf1971

the Matchday event tickets are for a corporate suite

I am not sure if they plan to sell any regular seats

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 Athena14

Thanks riskymove. Do you know if they're any good? Both sets of tickets are presents and I don't want to miss out. the website says more info will be released about the italy and scotland matches soon but I'm not sure if that means tickets or what

The suite will be filled by members of the supporters club and you normally get some players or ex-players in attendance as a speaker etc.

The views from the corporate level are pretty good too, so I'd say they'd make good presents alright

    From Forum
We hope to have further Ireland v Italy tickets (e.g. non Match Day Event) and news on Scotland tickets at a later date.

I would read that as some normal italy tickets will be available later

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 Athena14

brilliant thanks! Might go for them so. Only problem is I've to teach at the time they go on sale, I'll have to try for them on the iPhone or hope they don't sell out for the next two hours

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,467 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009
