    What would you be doing?

Id be most likely reading a book. Do you let yourself spend too much time on the internet?

Whatever I was doing I'd be doing it a lot faster and be a lot more focused on it.

So much so that my new years resolution is to not have the computer/net on when I'm watching the tv or reading (or doing anything generally). I've found in can take 2 hours to watch 40 mins of television, which is just ridiculous.

I would be a happier person. Follow my dreams and goals. And never have to deal with people I hate from a county or country I'm no where near. I'd probably have a longer relationship

Yeah reading stuff or watching TV (at night at least).

I love the internet but I don't love feeling that I need it.

    Watching football matches on teletext.

Saturday afternoons with a few cans, the betting slips and aertel hoping Cowdenbeath don't let you down so you can head out that night.

    Good times.

I'd be screwed when it comes to writing essays and papers. No Internet means a severe lack of information as I'm guessing there would not be an infinite amount of books in the college library on the subject.

Actually, without the Internet I probably wouldn't even be in college, I applied online having heard about the course online. I'd be sitting on the social doing nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,130 ✭✭✭Azureus

I'd be bored in work/have a harder time doing my job without info at my fingertips, and have a pretty different job at that becomes a good bit of my job involves websites, but other than that not much difference. I probably would be smarter having absorbed more info in college rather than copy/paste/reformat jobs that a lot of my work was (ssh, dont tell anybody). Other than that, no different because as soon as I get out of the office I rarely use the internet.

Computers would be very boring and nowhere near as plentiful.

I would have a vastly smaller film/music collection!

If I had no internet, then my job in it, would be gone, no need for web developers/support if no web.

ironicily, at the moment I have no internet at home, since I forgot that the phone bill wasn't direct debit and have been wondering why eircom wouldn't take their money. Now I know :-)
It's terrible, trying to browse boards or look up something from the phone, when I have an intermittent signal in the house

I don't know what I use to do without it. I am relatively new to it's joys. I was connected years I just never bothered. I am shocked at how into it I am. I still haven't opened a facebook account and it is only recently I am shopping online and pirating.

I suppose I use to watch a lot of recorded TV and I read a whole lot more.

Lolwut? Learn to multitask. Thanks to the internet, I can now watch a football game on TV, an episode from a TV show on my laptop, and read a book on my Kindle all at the same time

Thanks. However, for one thing imho multi-tasking nothing more than the process of doing many things badly at once. For another thing I'm usually reluctant to take advice from people who say "lolwut".

For some things, maybe. It's not particularly difficult to follow a TV show without laser-guided focus though

See title of the thread, and wonder if I might possibly have been less than serious.

Has any study been done specially for Ireland as to how many hours the average worker dosses on the internet during office hours? It has to be on average of at least an hour a day.
