Smartphone car kit

Having recently sold a vehicle with a cell phone cradle, I'm thinking of getting a smartphone - probably the iPhone 4s.

Do smartphones need a car kit - for hands-free calls and battery charging etc or is the built-in speaker sufficient and get a spare battery?

    Thanks for any advice

You dont need a cradle, you can just get a Bluetooth kit with speaker mic built in. Then use a standalone cigarette charger
