Just a bit of fun cause we all dream of what we could/might own some day....
Say you won 50K euro, what car would you buy?
I say only 50 because it means you have to think more about it, if you won millions you wouldn't have to worry about choosing.
Include a pic by all means, but try and keep it to two at most, maybe one exterior + one interior. Buy all means if you can stretch it to 2 cars feel free, but try to think of fuel/tax/insurance to be realistic about it.

    I'll begin....

Are you taking into consideration that if you spend 40-50 k on a supercar, that you could be goosed on running it after a few weeks? Fuel, insurance, tax, etc.

Yes, I stated to be realistic. I have thought about running costs etc. for my own choice alot. So spending 50K on the car itself wouldn't be the plan, but to have a nice chunk of money left over to pay for costs without worry.

EDIT: Can I also reiterate you have to be able to comfortably afford it with the money. Only post one car if you can only afford the one, two if you can afford two. But not multiple choices if both are over or unrealistic. This is gun to your head, decision making. I'm not asking for the car you may pick, but the car you WOULD pick.

No contest for me really.. I would have a Alfa 166 V6 for everyday use, and a 147 GTA for the weekends, also a V6. Could get both in for under 30k from the UK and spend the rest on tax, insurance and fuel.

I'd have one of the RS2's from PistonHeads for about 20K, and I'd use the other 30K to pay for tax, insurance, fuel, maintenance etc. for as long as I could afford it...

I would buy one of these and stick a huge engine into it.Only problem would be the price of insurance for an 18 year old with a classic BMW

Hard to decide to be honest. It wouldn't be a single brand new car anyway, rather a series of older ones.....

    BMW e31
    BMW e28 M5
    BMW 2002 Turbo
    BMW e30 M3
    Porker
    Volvo 2xx
    Saab 900 Turbo
    RX7 FD

    Or something

No way would I spend it on a new car - not enough value to be had there.

Possibly €15k-20k on an M3 with the rest being banked. I don't see the point in spending a huge load of cash on a car - there's plenty of value to be had out there without needing to spend €50k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 998 ✭✭✭Chriscl1

What you need to do is spend 5k on a passat and lodge the rest in the credit union - just in case :D

Me i'd buy a B5 RS4 as a daily and then buy one of the Vag 3.2 engined cars and bolt a pair of turbos on it for some weekend super car killing lol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,456 ✭✭✭✭Mr Benevolent

Well i wouldn't buy a new car for starters. I'd probably spend €5k on a very fuel efficient car for short spins and this for fun. The rest would be used for tax, insurance and fuel for a year or two.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,983 ✭✭✭✭tuxy

    This for a few hundred

    post-14221-1265710215.jpg

The the rest will be spend on the road trip of a life time. Ferry to France and then not stopping until I hit Malaysia or somewhere like that.

I'd restore my FTO & MR2 to as new.

    And then buy an Alfa 147 GTA/BMW M3 E30/E36.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,647 ✭✭✭impr0v

An E92 M3 - no example that I would actually want on Carzone atm, but this one is the closest:

    no-image-large.gif

Alternatively, I like the Merc CL class - this one seems to be pretty good value.

    no-image-large.gif

Not sure about the AMG wheels on a non-AMG car though.

Your given 50k for a car and still your a tight bastard:D

For being so cheap and boring, the 45k left over is going to be taken off you, as per the clause in your 50k winning prize.

Clause states at least 80% of the 50k has to be spent on the car and the remaining 20% can go towards other car related expenditure.

Same applies to you dudara, you lose your 30k left over:p

You too tuxy, 49.5k gone :D This a motor forum, back packing forum is in travel or something like that.

I hate paying road tax, want something fun, something light and quick.

    Toyota-FT-86-00.jpg

Would add a turbo when the kit becomes available, should be 300bhp with that and being 1140kg it would be very quick then.

    I apologise Confab.

    You bought a stunner :)

Seeing as I need the space any of these second hand. M5 touring, Audi RS6 Avant, RS4 avant but I wouldnt spend more than about 30 grand on any of the above as i want to keep about 15 grand for an Lotus Elise too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,311 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

I'd pay 30k off the mortgage and the extra income every month from the decrease in mortgage would mean I could drive my dream car. RS6 Avant.

just copped that the pic in the first post is a B7 RS4...no doubt you'd get one of them for well in budget of 50k

Prob look at something like this and one of these

Assuming I couldn't spend the 50k on other more important things, I'd buy this if I could get it down to around the 40 grand mark. Presuming it's actually a Vogue and on the "cheap" tax. Also if I could swindle a years warranty. I'd keep the rest for running it/taxing it the year after.

I have and boy that is one impressive car/engine, however these days I think there is such a variety of what 50k could buy that I couldn't spend it on a diesel Range Rover. They are some motor though. Excellent all round kind of car.

I was trying to find a supercharged Range Rover, couldn't find any! That RR Sport has quite high miles, imagine the fuel bill for all of those 130k miles!
Here's another one and tbh I love the colour!

Yeah that was the Launch model. Those wheels were just on the Supercharged, but they were soon to be ruined by replicas. And then they started offering them on some HSE's or just the HSE +, and then on the 3.6 tv8 in the Sports, which were absolute rockets and sounded even better.

Could people who have no interest in the fun or idea of the thread just not bother posting.
I thought I made it fairly clear this was about cars and not having better things to spend the money or or leaving the country. Can some people just not use their imagination and not bring the fecking economy into everything!!!!
Also what other RS4 other than the B7 could I get apart from the older B5. Certainly no brand new ones available.
