3 people fined for having drugs.
150 euro fine for someone with a fiver's worth of ecstacy, 450 for someone with, iirc, 30 quid's worth of ecstacy and a 150 fine for someone with 25 quid's worth of hash. All received the probation act.
All offences committed at a music festival.

Something irks me about this, though I'm not sure what. Perhaps it's the fact that these people clearly weren't drug dealers, perhaps it's that they were doing no harm to anyone but themselves, perhaps it's the waste of garda time for trivial offences or maybe it's the absence of any drug dealers in the piece.
    Not sure.

They would rather go for the users than the sellers, a much easier bust and they get to keep their knee caps and families safe.

Ya, the fact the drugs were smuggled into the country up sombody's ass should be punishment enough.
    :D

Seriously though, fact is they are illegal, everyone knows they are, and if you use them, you have to be prepaired to take the heat.

People taking drugs at a music festival are the lowest of the low in my eyes. Absolute scum. They should bring back hanging for lowlifes like these

More than likely a donation to charity and the probation act.
    Poor reporting by the paper.

Local newspapers usually have **** all to report on so you will find that they trawl the local court reports for kids caught with small quantities of drugs, people who were arrested for drunken and disorderly behaviour and those who refused to pay parking fines and litter fines.

They also often print their names and addresses for the added "name and shame" effect. In a way it's not much better than gossip in printed form.

Ah you have! Buzz Killington and the Buzzkills? They're not that good actually. You think you're going to have a great time and you end up puking in to the open mouth of Jesus because the toilet and the sink are overflowing. And the towel for the cat is covered in sick so that won't do either.

Maybe they just want to protect us from the massive fatality rates associated with cannabis

...or maybe the powers that be are more interested in punishing people for not purchasing the taxable drugs that they sell, like alcohol and nicotine.

Between the 3 of them they could have given 1 person a decent night.
