Temperature Sensor Opel Astra

I noticed yesterday that the ambient temperature sensor on my car doesn't appear to be working correctly - the temp on the dash is reading at around 22 degrees when the engine is cold & goes up to around 22-25 degrees when I'm driving. I'd be glad if it actually was that temperature outside, but in mid-Winter, it's clearly not!

I have a feeling that the sensor got damaged the other night during the high winds (it was wild out my way).

So, two questions if anyone can help:

    1. Where can I locate the sensor in the engine?

    2. Does it need to be fixed urgently or is it that important?

This is the outside temp display on the display in the center/top of the dash?

This a separate system with nothing to do with the engines systems so has no effect if its not working. The sensor is behind the front bumper in front of the rad fairly common for them to give up, when it fails altogether you'll just get a couple of lines where the temp use to show.

    That's the one.

Bit of a pain that, but at least it's nothing critical. Thanks a million for your help - much appreciated!
