I want to make some simple clay models the make moulds of them to produce preferably hard rubber copies. Anyone done this before?

The procedure in my mid is make the clay model cast the mould in probably latex then fill the mould to make the copies. Am I bit mad or is this easy to do?

    Cheers

Moulding rubber in rubber might be problematic.
I would think that silicone and plaster of paris would be easier.
You could also make the figures in Sugrú

Yeah good point. What relatively hard rubber/plastic can be got in craft shops here. Essentially I want to make little mustaches and lips on sticks for props for my wedding. There about 6 or 7 euro each to buy in from the US. Rubber moulds are ideal but plaster as the material would be too fragile.

If thats all you want it for then do a plaster mold and cast in latex. The latex dries faster in plaster. A silicone mold can be used with latex but takes longer to dry. Also RPM (google them) have a good selection of molding and casting material as does mbfh.co.uk (ships from antrim)
