Just a few of the cars that were launched in 1982, making them eligible for cheaper tax and VRT sometime this year. :)

The Audi 100 C3, groundbreaking aerodynamic shape, my favourite the Avant didnt come out till 83, the Quattro came in 84.

Porsche 944, a car that has aged very well.

Citroen BX, very few of these left, I suppose once the suspension gave serious trouble they were an economic write off.

    Lotus Excel

    Micra K10

Max_Damage would have liked the fact his favourite car is now eligible for classic tax.
I thought the K10s didn't come out till '83 though!

We had an Audi 100CD with the 2144c inline 5, it was actually a nicer car in many ways than the 200 turbo I owned afterwards.

I had a 1781cc saloon... great motorway car and over 750 miles per tank of fuel.

Seems it was released in Japan in 82, and in Europe in early 83.

You'd be hard pressed to find a 1982 E30 BMW!

They were definitely sold as LHD in 1982, parallel to the E21.

The first car I ever drove... sitting on my dad's lap!

We had a navy one, 405 DLI (I think), subsequently owned by the fella who owned the Portobello Bar...)

    Bye bye Cortina, hello: Sierra

From wiki... you learn something new everyday!
In Finland, tax laws made the 1.3 L-engined Sierra an attractive business car in the mid 1980s. A number of these underpowered engines were turbocharged by local Ford dealers in order to gain 2.0 L engine power with 1.3 L tax fees to the owner of the vehicle..

How about a nice 1982 Bitter SC Cabriolet?
(not exactly thick on the ground, only in LHD, and the coupe was nicer, but still...)

    Great thread idea.

The BMW e28 5 series came out in 1981, but early cars are rare so a 1981 or 1982 would be a treat.

Don't forget the Mercedes 190 (W201), even if only in left hand drive until 1984.
