    Hi

I'm organising a golf trip for about 16 guys somewhere in the midlands in April this year over 2 days. We hope to play some really good courses and I was thinking of tullamore on day1 staying somewhere in Athlone that night and playing Glasson the next day.

Can anyone suggest any other courses or accommodation that might be worthwhile looking into. We're travelling from Galway so preferably within a 2 hour drive.

    Cheers in advance,

Esker Hills is a fine track as is Athlone itself. Both well looked after all the time and wont break the wallet. Little bit further towards Dublin is New Forest which is well worth playing to but might be bit far of a drive.

lots of good courses around a 30 mile radius. Tullamore and Esker Hills are fine tracks. Athlone / Glasson / Moate or Mount Temple should all be considered.

The Creggan Court Hotel in Athlone has some good deals on at the moment, you could try the Hodson Bay as well and its right beside the course. Prince of Wales is right in the centre of Athlone. Ring any of them up and you will get a better deal.
If you want to stay in tullamore the central hotel is in the centre of town and is a nice spot.

Played it on the 27th December and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fantastic value for money as well.

You're spoilt for choice in the midlands. I play tullamore and new forest a bit. New forest is a fine track and tullamore is a great course. I'm booked into the heritage and portarlington for patricks weekend. We got a great deal - the two rounds, dinner and b&b for 110e pps.

tullamore is a super course. I definitely recommend it. Would love it if you made the spin over to Athlone aswell though ;)

Esker is another great course though, just make sure you are well rested before tackling it. there's a lot of hills ;)

Given it's a short trip this does cut out a lot of the travelling by staying around Tullamore, both great courses.
Leave the others for your next trip!

either or, Brewery Tap in Tullamore is a great pub. Too many to list in athlone!! Nutts Corner or The Shack if you are a guinness drinker. Shack also does fantastic food as well.

If you want to stay in Athlone, give the Sheraton a shout. they are doing great deals and its right in the middle of town.

As regards courses for the midlands, Athlone and Glasson are very good courses and would not disappoint you.

Esker Hills and Glasson would be my call though if i had to choose two courses near Athlone.

If you are able to travel that bit further, the Heritage well worth it as the lads said. They are doing a four man team comp too.

Also worth considering but may be too near home is Portumna, ye could play the next day on the way home.
