Insurance Question

I have a driving test booked for the 24th of January.
My insurance ran out in December.

Can I get cover for the month?

I don't want to buy a years insurance with the provisional as it will cost me about 300 euro more based on the online quote.

Would Aviva be willing to offer me a good price based on the fact that I will most likely have a full licence within a month... or maybe re-negotiate the policy once I get the full licence.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and 300 euro is a massive deal for me, barley getting by nowadays.

You'd probably get a refund after passing test. I got €400 from Quinn after passing.

If you renew your policy and pass your driving test you will receive money back due to passing your policy

Will you? Since the whole mandatory provisional accompanied rule, will you get a refund?

The risk is higher as the driver is on the road unsupervised.

You won't get a quote for a month. Also when you pass your test, the insurance company will reduce your insurance to the full driver licence rate.

Best thing you can do is take out a policy and put it on direct debit. These will reduce once you pass. Best of luck!

Thanks a million guys, exactly what i wanted to know.

Not sure what you were getting at about the accompanied driver rule but rest assured, the only time i will ever drive on my provisional without my mom is during the test :D (no seriously, absolutely no leeway, my parents would disown me and i have no problem with that arrangement) :)

Yep premium will go down once you pass your test. It's all to do with the number of claims.

In the UK, your policy goes up once you pass because the learner driver with full license holder rule is strictly enforced. As a result, there are more claims from newly qualified drivers as they no longer have supervision.

Here, it is still the case that learners drive unaccompanied and have more claims as a result.
