I would appreciate feedback from boards bike experts regarding pros&cons of Trek Madone 3.1 / 4.5 versus Giant TCR composite 1?
They look very similar to me & same price range, though i am no expert.... Bike is to be used for triathlons. Thanks in advance

I have a 08 TCR c3 as a second bike. I don't race so I'm not sure how helpful I can be but...

I find the frame quite comfortable. I remember being plesantly supprised at the handling the first time I rode it, better even than my main bike, it turns very smoothly. Considerably more toe overlap on the front wheel (In my own limited experience) than other bikes I'v ridden/owned.

As a training bike I would reccomend it as its light, comfortable and very nice to ride but as I said I can't comment on it for racing.

I got a 3.1 for €1400 during the summer. Moved up from an older Trek (1500) and I find it great. Again, I don't race, or even cover big miles, but I've put nearly 2000 km on the Trek, and it's not put a foot wrong yet.

I got the new TCR composite 1, great bike, very aerodynamic shape for an entry level carbon... full Ultegra is smooth and snappy, very light SL1 wheelset with re-branded DT Swiss hubs... Eats up the miles!

I like the Treks also, had a look in Wheelworx, but for the money the Giant wins...

So unless you want to go for the higher model Trek then i'd get the TCR...

    Thanks all for your replies.
The TCR C1 that caught my attention in a shop is unfortunately the wrong frame size:(

€1400 for a 3.1 seems to be a very very good price..From memory, the one i saw yesterday with a discount sale price was around €1600.
Where did you get it ?

    Hello,

    What frame size are you?

I got a 2010 Trek 4.5 Triple (which im selling) from new and its a great bike. It feels so solid on the road and handles really well. I did 1 duathlon on the bike last year and can't fault the bike.

    Regards,

I got it in Stagg's Cycles in Lucan. Was marked down from €1850.

You wrote in the ad "the only reason for sale is because I'm going to do some Tri's this year.".
I am curious as to what's wrong with this bike for triathlons?
    Cheers
