3v Paypal Problem

    Hi folks, I had a search but i could not find a topic close enough to mine to be of help. It might be a long story but I will try make it short.

    I have a paypal account, it is considered a uk acccount as my address is in the north but the bank account and debit card it is linked to is not in use at the moment. I wanted to get something on ebay.ie and my sister has a 3v card and said it could be used in the same way. So I topped up the 3v card with the amount needed and it wont seem to work no matter what we do.

    I have tried to use the 3v as a paypal guest and it would not work. Tried to use it through my own paypal account it wont work, tried to use it through my sisters paypal and it wont work. I also tried to create a new "Irish" paypal and add the card and it wont work.

    I have the 3v VISA number, the 3 digit code and the exp date. When I try it with my own paypal or my sisters it goes as far as the confirmation page where it is processing the payment and then says it cannot and gives "Error code #10417" which according to people online who got the same error says paypal claim it to be an error on the card issuers side of things.

    Sorry that was so long, has anyone else had any problem like this?

    Email paypal and them. They are normally very helpful.

    I have never had a problem using 3v on paypal so cannot really suggest anything else.

    The only thing I could think of is if your sister's 3v card is the irish version and the your paypal account is Uk that may be the issue.:confused:

    Login to the 3v account and see if the money is still there . You may need to ring 3V , as the money can sometimes become frozen for a few days .( from our own experience anyway )

    If you add the 3V visa card number ( voucher ) to your paypal account and make it your primary card , it may work.

    Paypal are quite strict though , in that , the name on cards and account name must match , so this could also be a reason for your problem .
