Give Dog Training Ireland a call, they may know!

    Young Soldier-

In Ireland there is no accredited or recognised course. In the Uk there are membership organisations (bipdtu, nasdu and a few more). There is no legal requirment for the handler more than any other security guard, SIA/ PSA/ safe pass. This gives rise to an unfortunate situation whereby untrained and unsuitable dogs and handlers can work legally. (Dog walkers in uniforms).

Depending on what part of the country you are in you would be welcome to come do some training here in North Cork see what you think of it. We have a few people training their dogs in protection, tracking, article/ scent indication.

If you are interested, or if anyone is interested send me a PM and I'll send you details/ contact number.

There is at least one company offering 'certified' courses and charging stupid money for the course but that cert is worthless. Make sure and ask to see trained dogs that were actually trained by anyone you investigate doing a course with. If they say they are accredited or otherwise somewhere ring that intitution and varify cause there's a few web-sites up with people making dis-honest claims.
