Can't get into my Passat

    Hi,
In reference to a 2007 VW Passat. My battery is dead. Now the remote key does not allow me to gain access to the car. Also the emergency key within the remote will not allow me to gain access to the car.
What do I do? Is there a means of gaining access to the engine to charge the battery without access to the inside of the car?
    Any help appreciated.
    Yours Frustratingly.

Jump leads onto the starter motor from underneath the car is the easiest way I know of. You will need to raise the car and remove the undertray.

happened me with my volvo and discovered battery was in the boot and the emergency key opened the boot only just for this kind of problem..is your battery in the boot maybe?

Any chance the boot opens with the key?

We had to get into our Volvo that way, in through the boot, push the back of the rear seat forward, climb into the front and pop the bonnet.

Passat battery is under the bonnet. It is possible to open the bonnet from outside the car but I don't think it is a good idea to post instructions on a public forum.

Well lads, thanks for the rapid repsonse.
No I can't get in to the car booth either. I cant get access to any part of the car. Modern cars are really annoying.
Just tried everything again there now that the light is fading and you know the way the car lights flash when you use your key remote, well they are flashing away when I use the key remote.
What's up with that? I assumed the battery was totally dead!

Possibly there is enough power left in the battery to flash the lights but not enough to operate the door locks themselves.

passenger door handle should have removable cover with "hidden key slot" behind so normal key can slot in .. therefore no need for battery power

    best o luck

Er, usually you just pull the door handle and then turn key while holding the handle up. Its a manufacturing requirement so you can still open the door when the battery is flat.

Yep, there's a slot on the drivers side handle for this AFAIK

^^ I assume from the OP's posts that they tried that already....I can't imagine why it wouldn't work though, its a separate mechanical system so lack of power should't have any effect on it.

The amount of passat drivers that dont know about the key within the fob and also dont know about the key slot in the passenger door is shocking. I realise the OP did know but just in general.
