    £860 grand?

Surely there must be a catch somewhere?

I once genuinely got an email from the FBI about why I was seeking information on the building of a small thermonuclear bomb that would fit in a case.

I suspect I was popular with them for 5 minutes! :D

    (It was for a book)

Interesting. Care to elaborate further, as it sounds like a very cool story.

Had a few of those fake check scams tried on me. I pranked one of them, telling him I'd already got a 'job offer' from another one of these characters offering me €6,000 a month more than him, and got him into a bidding war with his imaginary competitor. I just passed his details on to the UK cops cos that's where his IP was from, and I haven't heard anything back from him since :D

I got one a year or two ago regarding a man in Romania or something asking for money to buy a cooker for his family, as they were hungry..
As far as scams go, that is definitely the most poorly executed one I have witnessed!

Where you in the USA at the time?

Fck off you should've replied back if you weren't.

I didn't want to end up possibly barred from the states over something silly and trivial.
Better to be the better person and explain what and why, etc...

(Then quietly call them "silly sods!" :D )

Got roughly the same thing when I downloaded a copy of a free password protection system called PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) for protecting files.
They were apparently monitoring the site it was given out from.
Told them then to mind their own business.

I received the exact same email as the OP.

I am currently stringing the cunt along as we speak.

Long story short, I have advised him of my gratitude for his kind email and offer, because the money will be helpful for my upcoming sex-change operation. I even thanked him "from the bottom of my soon-to-be-gone willy". My code name is "Jeremiah McBeaver".

It appears the scammer's real name is Chidi Ogu, and of course he is Nigerian.

All email correspondence, to date, is below: (last email first; go to the end and work your way up).

    Okay Kelvin, understood.

Please send me a copy of your identification which you use at the ATM card center affiliated with the Ministry of Finance.

If you can do this then the money will be on the way to the account.

    Cunt,

    Jeremiah
