Can anyone enlighten me as to the supposed benefit of buying a second hand car previously owned by a female? If we're getting in to gender stereotypes, in my experience the car will not have been washed for the entire time it's been owned by said female, will certainly never have heard the sound of a Hoover inside it, may not have been serviced regularly (at all, in my sister's case), will have numerous 'dings' following 'prangs' in carparks, and will rarely have been revved over 3000rpm. Yes, the female driver is less likely to have been speeding, or been involved in a fatal accident, but how does that benefit someone buying her car??

I guess the intention is to say the car was not driven 'hard'.

Stereotypicaly they don't drive them as hard as men therefore they'd be less likely to have issues.

Men's cars need counselling for their "issues"? Well Holy God, if that doesn't bate Bannagher.

But driving 'hard' (ie, going through the rev range through the gears) at least every now and then is beneficial for an engine. Plus the one lady owner car with low mileage is likely to have done lots of short runs from cold, with severe engine wear as a result.

It's a lie similar to car in perfect condition or first to see will buy. If I see it in an add I move on.

I always though one lady owner and low mileage equals no service ever done?

I see some old ladies and they absolutely rev the sh!te outta their cars when pulling off. It would seem that the clutch is barely biting and they are only moving marginally yet they would appear content they are doing it correctly...in their own minds anyway

This thread isn't going to last long.

But as someone said on here before, all "lady owner" means is that car smells of perfume and needs a new clutch. :D

I'd have to concur with that. If were getting into the whole stereotyping thing on this one I would think men are generally most likely to ensure their cars are serviced properly and when due...
