    What is the best way to clean the end of a kettle. It is all black. What is the cause?

    I'd imagine it's something to do with the element burning through it. I'd get rid of it

    Thanks. So it would have nothing to do with hard/soft water?

    I wouldn't be an expert on it Worzton but wouldn't imagine so. The water would affect the inside alright but wouldn't leave black marks like that,those marks look like burns,and just above the element. Better be safe than sorry
