    Hi,

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction for details of the South Union Workhouse so that I can check on the death of an ancestor?

    Thank you

if the death was in 1864 or later, then it will be included in the usual civil records.

The admission books for the South Dublin Union are available in the National Archives.

    Thanks Shane,

I am new to this so a bit slow off the mark :o

I have found the record on familysearch.org of her death but I can't seem to find the South Dublin Union on the National Archives online?
Are these records only available in person?

not online, you have to visit. Give them a ring before a trip in - some records are held in storage and they have to get them ready for you.

I'd start with the death cert as it will give you an exact date (might save you some searching in the admission book) and also details of cause of death etc, which may not show in the SDU record
