Advice needed on hd freeview/saorview

Hi newbie here I have a Samsung ue40c6505 led tv connected with ntl the decoder is being used in another room so just running a coax cable straight from the wall into it.

I would like to get HD freeview and or saorview into it there is a cam slot thing in the back do I need a ci+ card for it as its picking up all the digital stations but saying they are scrambled?.

Do I just need an aerial to get saorview or do I need a box as well?
Can I get Freeview in Dublin and do I need a box for that ?
Do I need a disk and combi box?
What are my alternatives here?.

To get the Saorview channels on that TV you will require an aerial, the ntl cable doesn't carry them. You could try with a cheap indoor aerial initially but you might require an outdoor aerial if there is no or bad reception with the indoor one.

The scrambled channels you're picking are probably the UPC subscription channels which require a UPC decoder. The analogue versions of the channels should be available as part of your UPC sub.

Freeview, the UK digital terrestrial TV service (the UK equivalent of Saorview) isn't available in Dublin. A Freesat receiver and satellite dish is your best option, there are PVR versions of the Freesat receiver available.

What do you mean by combi box?

For Freesat+ PVRs see the RH column on this site - http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/

There are no approved Saorview PVRs yet.
