Not that it makes much difference but the names themselves were changed to include accents over a's and my username was misspelled to bellecarra...
I also noticed the formatting of the 1,000mile completion date changed to decimal rather than date format...it all just looked a bit like a piece of petty vandalism tbh.

Fixed my name again. Someone is determined to call me a jogger. Maybe I need to speed up a little :D

I was just about to update my total and I appear to have disappeared from the list, I know I've been taking it easy but I still belong in the top 20:-)

I'll fix it tomorrow when brain is back in action

You weren't the only one. I've had to add myself back into the table too.

Who would be bothered deleting names? Somebody who should be out running instead I think:mad:

With all this uninvited editing going on it may be worthwhile limiting access to the Document - see http://support.google.com/docs/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=182145 - it would mean having to share a private link with those using it already as well as anyone wanting to start using it. Wouldn't want to wake up some morning and find it all wiped clean!

I was deleted too  having last updated at about 1pm today. somebody must be really really bored...

I've put myself back in now.

Names have been changed again as well. Think locking or limiting access to it would definitely be something worthwhile. Must be some seriously childish people out there.

Nice running lads. I'm averaging 70k a week. Not sure what that is in ye old currency. Hoping to catch up with you both.

Actually 70k is probably around 45 miles?

No point limiting access if the person who is doing it is given access again. I'm sure nothing malicious is meant by it.

Briandejogger is a funny name though. :)

Very true RacoonQueen, but at the moment that document is open to the entire universe, so it could be some bored non-boardsie who's messing around with it.

Yeah, I'm doing slightly under 70k a week so you should be around the same level.

    Same thing, no?
    :)

Unfortunately someone seems to have removed everyone at the top of the table. I've just re-added myself, but there are loads of runner missing.
Looks like it may have been an error. Perhaps a poster believes that you need to manually re-sort the [Enter Distance Here] tab?

Is it possible to lock everything, except the distances columns?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,514 ✭✭✭✭Krusty_Clown

Actually, it could also be a problem with column filters. Can we get rid of the column filters and lock the column headings?
It could be that someone is filtering, and then sorting the list.

Unfortunately not possible to lock specific columns.

I've reverted to an edit from before Krusty and RayCuns edits today, sorry chaps. But that seemed to be the point at which someone deleted a big chunk of entries.

Personally I think that we should make it signed in edits only, you have to sign in here in order to post afterall. Now some people may not have, or want, a Google account. But there is certainly more people making signed in edits already when I go through to fix based on the old revisions.

What think the ART'ists? Or more specifically, someone who doesn't want it to be signed in edits only, justify why not?

Would'nt make a difference, if someone wants to play silly-buggers they'll just get a google login, unless there's a log of who edited the sheet. Back to the tables, they worked, so why change it.
    Admit it, the doc's were a mistake.:p

But then we will know who it is and can block them. That would only be an issue if left as "anyone who is signed in", if it's an issue still then we go for "only these users" and people have to be granted access.

Not the ideal way of doing things admittedly, but still better than nothing and still better than tables.

Edit: I've fixed about 20 peoples entries as they had been editing the wrong column, no names give to protect the guilty. It's only the column C or D that you need to edit people.*

    * This kind of problem is no different than we always had with the tables anyway, just it doesn't mess up anyone else at the same time when people make a minor error.

I don't have a google account. I can get one if necessary but I am not sure how this will help, I mean as gerard says any randomer can just sign in and mess up the table.

Looks like we'll have to go back to the old tables :pac:

And now everyone is called 7Mile. I like the google docs to be honest. I Think maybe a signed in edits is the way forward. If someone signs in and does a malicious edit can we block them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,370 ✭✭✭pconn062

Well it was good while it lasted! Everyone just make sure you keep track of your miles in your log or somewhere, I think we've got a troll in our company.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,704 ✭✭✭✭RayCun

I'm happy enough to go with google-signin-to-edit. In the meantime, I'm going to adopt a policy of 'revert to the last version with a name attached' when there's an outbreak of vandalism.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,832 ✭✭✭littlebug

I just updated my mileage. I wonder how long it will last :p
I'm usually signed in when I update anyway so would have no problem with that if it goes that way.

    Signed in edits only now.

Same links for accessing the doc still apply.
