Brooker's other stuff can be hit and miss but this normally delivers and no reason to expect anything different later. Probably most excited about the superb Limmy taking part. :)

The one and only Charlie Brooker takes a satirical and not at all bitter look back at the hectic events of 2011 - a mad year of royal weddings, Gypsy Weddings, riots, phone-hacking and - more recently - Desperate Scousewives. With contributions from Doug Stanhope, Adam Curtis and Brian Limond. If, for some reason, you've a hankering for yet more 'the year that was' type viewing, there's That Was 2011: The ITV News Review of the Year at 8.00pm on UTV. Mark Austin presents a look back at the major stories of the past six months, including the phone-hacking scandal that engulfed News International and led to the closure of the News of the World in July. There were also the August riots in England and Wales, the killing of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi in October, and the deaths of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and Amy Winehouse.

Oops, I foolishly assumed it would be called Screenwipe, ah well.

One of weaker Screenwipe's of recent years I thought..

.. although did enjoy his take on the NOTW Supplement of tasteless front-pages.

Weaker yes but still pretty enjoyable.
Someone needs to give this man a regular TV slot again though...once or twice a year isn't enough. Hell I'd settle for one just taking the mick out of more adverts.

Charlie Brooker must be sipped like a bitter medicine, once or twice a year, to keep you sane.

I thought it was a good effort! Had me laughing for most of it - perhaps not as good as last year but definately something I will be tuning back in to next year

He's rapid fire delivery means some of the jokes have barely hit the target before being elbowed aside. Some good quips, esp on that Travellers programme and the Phone hackery.

I just want to get him and give him a proper haircut! I can't take him seriously with that dead cat on his head.

I normally hate Barry ****peas but I actually enjoyed him last night, especially when he was talking about the travellers. The little documentary about Murdoch in the middle was bizarre and didn't fit in properly with the rest of the show.

I enjoyed the show but it was definitely weaker than usual.

It's on again this evening at 23:00 on BBC4 in case anyone (like me) missed it.

Fair point, I'm a big Adam Curtis fan, but he couldn't do the topic any justice in the allotted time - would like to see him do a full hour on Murdoch ... along the lines of his blog post >here<.

Thought it was pretty good myself, few proper howls of laughter ... that prostate exam. Stanhope in rare form on the monarchy and some vintage Barry ****peas. Plus, it wasn't exactly the easiest of years to wring a few laughs outta, creditable attempt over all, good B+. Now **** off 2011, roll on 2012.
There was this show, right, which was like Masterchef with baking. The Great British Bake Off. Just baking. It was good, but particular. Like living in the future with only baking allowed. … There was all this jeopardy, like will this pastry be too tough? Or will they forget to use pastry? Anything could happen. They might knock a pan over or go mad and f**k the oven. It had all this great footage of things coming out of ovens and people eating them and squirrels’ bollocks. And pies and cakes. It was class. If you won, you got to run Greggs.
