You no thats a 350watt psu :p mostly converting mp3s/video and the odd gaming. I don't see the big difference to intel to amd mate

Yes I know that's a 350W PSU, you know 550W is complete overkill for the system you've specced, don't you?

There's a huge difference between AMD and Intel. The X6 only wins in very specific circumstances.

No harm in having a few extra watts ill be putting 3x 2TB drives in this for backups anyway and maybe a graphic card.

You'd think the AMD would win there with 2 extra cores:confused:

Some processors can overclock which can increase the speed of which it crunches numbers and performs operations meaning increased overall speed. A good cooler is needed and it is possible to damage the components when doing so, however nowadays its very easy and much safer. Quite easy to do on the sandybridge CPUs but that's out of your price range. This could give the amd build a slight advantage but the Intel one is much better still.

I know all that mate :D though Id rather spend the extra money and get a GOOD processor than worrying about the possibility of something going wrong.

Oh right wasn't sure. Well then you should go for the intel, you could always go for ivybridge later and see a nice performance boost then. Hope this helps :D

Modern 2TB should be around 10w max draw on your PSU (when spinning up, even less when idle) so I'd concur with previous poster on PSU, better off running a lower PSU at higher usage rather than the other way around.
