Can you purchase an adult ticket for a child on a Ryanair flight if you dont need to bring a stroller or are they strict when it comes to purchasing a child ticket.

Cheers in advance and apologies if this has been done before.

AFAIK you can't buy an adult ticket for an infant, they will need to be on your lap for takeoff/landing.

I was looking at booking a flight earlier and it was working out cheaper to book 2 adults tickets than to book 1 adult and 1 child under 2.

As I wouldnt need to bring a stroller I was thinking that I could just buy 2 adults tickets and that this would be ok but with it being Ryanair I just couldnt take the chance of getting to the gate and then being hit with outrageous charges.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not having a go at Ryanair, but if they read these posts maybe they could reduce the child fares when the adult fare is lower than the €20 child fare.:)

It's mad alright, but Aer Lingus do it too. Not sure about other airlines, I've only travelled with EI and FR with our daughter.

Knowing them they probably don't mind the adults being cheap because they feel they might buy some booze and peanuts on board, be overweight and be charged excess or have a hand luggage too big. Infants wouldn't do any of that. Maybe I'm just too cynical....
