Talking about this from a Pro Wrestling POV if Brock loses here the chances that we will see him wrestle goes up a million percent as we've seen in the past if cant be Number 1 at what he does he doesnt stick around.

This fight is a massive test for both has the level intrigue in terms of styles, records, business and personal ramifications to make it a must see. Brock really wants to win this one.

Was thinking to myself last night I wonder is there any pro wrestler out there at the moment besides Angle who would do well at MMA

Harry Smith has gotten very high praise for those in the know. His grappling and ground game is there but his striking is something he wants to work on before having his first fight.

Nope. Mir v Lesnar III is what would probably happen. Mir wants a fight against lesnar again and it would get a big buy rate and be a big pay day for Mir/Lesnar I think. If Lesnar did win that fight, id imagine he would get at least another HW title shot before he retires.

This fight can be summed up in a few lines. If it goes to ground and lesnar gets ground control, Its over. If Overeem gets a sub in, its over.

Lesnar cant stand and trade with overeem also. Id give the edge to Overeem, going to stick a bet on him to win by TKO.

swagger would be a decent mma hw with enough training

angles too old and too much baggage and injuries at this stage

I think I am more looking forward to the Diaz fight than the Brock one! Strange that!! Should be good though!

Either way they could NEVER match the Shogun vs Henderson fight but I'm still looking forward to it

wow you might as well say christian or Santino

Swagger is over rated. i dont think he would have the stamina for a real fight.

would have liked to see goldberg or Cena(just to see him get killed:D)

I think Lesnar loses when he gets caught with a knee to the body. As for him returning to wrestling he is better than the vast majority of the ufc heavyweight division, so he isn't going to go just yet. I think even if Lesnar wins this he hasn't a notion of beating Dos Santos who'd destroy Lesnar on the feet and has good takedown defense unlike Overeem.

The main card does not KO until approx 3am. The pre lims start at 11.50pm our time.

Looking forward to this. Apart from the Fitch fight that is. He usually bores me to death.

Jon Fitch the ulster football championship of the UFC. Gustafsson vs Matyushenko in a Light Heavyweight fite btw. Lesnar's fite will probably be on before 5, its a five round fight I assume. Ufc have made all non title main event ones 5 rounders iirc.

haha id say they could make this a 2 round fight

I don't think overeem was ever a Pride champion. He is also far too small in the first pic for my liking.

The fix is in ref for the Brock fight is in a spot of bother:
    Referee Yamasaki controversy

Ref Mario Yamasaki is in hot water over comments he made predicting that the Lesnar vs. Overeem fight would end quickly, given he's the referee for the main event tonight and will be the person who has to step in to stop it provided it doesn't go five rounds.

"I think it's going to be great," Yamasaki said today on MMA Junkie Radio. "Two big guys in a huge fight. Brock Lesnar is pretty aggressive, so this fight is going to go really fast. I don't know which way, but I don't think it goes past the first round."

Replace him with Steve Mazzagatti

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

I'll be shocked if he still refs it after that comment. If he does, and he stops it in the first round there will be some serious questions asked tomorrow, I imagine the UFC will want to avoid that scenario.

Not long now till the main event, about another hour or so, some good fights until then also!

Hendricks vs Fitch might be bore. Anyone else want to see a MMA event featuring just action film stars eg Jackie Chan vs Steven Segal and Jean Claude Van Damme vs Dolph Lundgren. No just me...

I know you shouldn't but I got a fit of laughing when Fitch got floored. Thats a bad loss for him, Mazzagatti could of guillotined him on the crowd which would of been gas.

Lol! What's the big deal? He was giving an opinion, a fairly obvious one! It's a no-brainer!

    I don't see the controversy!

Fitch is a great man for a dull wrestling match. But if a Matt Morgan vs Crimson or a DiBiase vs Mahal match ended like that I may remember or care about them.

    Exactly, an opinion.

I'd like to think that all UFC referee's are impartial and free from bias. They're not going to risk their nor the UFC's reputation.

I think if you asked any UFC follower/fan they'll say it'll be a very early finish tonight, 1st round, second at the latest.

Majority of matches are always dull. Most fighters just box and box and box. At least with jones (think that's his name) shakes it up alot

Nah not really man, if you enjoy the technical side of it, it can be exciting. Ill admit matches with people like GSP can get so dull due to constant takedowns and not moving off the mat, but its not all about KOs either.

Anyway, really hope Diaz gets mangled in the next fight!

Had a good convo with my jujitsu instructor this afternoon about different styles and how entertaining they are. Boxing, kicking, wrestling, take-downs, throws, control, guard, submission, etc.

In the end it all comes down to personal preference. :pac:

Seeing as this is on of a Friday did anybody come out to Rebecca black's Friday. I hope Mike Goldberg doesn't start saying stockton slap about 8,000 times a round.

Great performance by Nate Diaz suprised Cerrone didn't use more kicks he was just picked apart. Fair play to Goldberg for only saying Stockton Slap once.
