Did I read too much into things

I was doing a casual thing with someone who I thought was a gentleman. He was far from a gentleman with his behaviour that followed which led to me pulling the chord on things even though I did like him or thought I did.

He promised me something small which I thought was a lovely kind gesture but he didn't follow through without even a initiating a message at any stage to tell me what the the situation was. Basically he got my hopes up to leave me hanging in the air -blowing cold.

I understand that people have lifes and that there could have been anything happening and that he could quite simply just be busy and I gave him the benefit of the doubt and plently of leeway and time with some casual brief reminders in between where he replied with excuses and looking backing IMO lies but I believed them.

I eventually brought things up for discussion and told him what being let down like that represented for me and with his half baked apology which was very brief, he showed no enthusiasm at trying to fix things. IMO he further lied to me here and didn't have the guts to tell me the truth because I left things at that and didn't hear from him again. He showed me no consideration for me with a severe lack of manners.

He is gone pure thick on me now.

I think you are going to need to give more detail here if you want some useful replies as it's all a bit vague.

What did he promise you? Was it some sort of item?

If you were only seeing him casually, what's the big deal? You weren't really a couple were you?

Loads of people say things that they mean at the time but never materialise.... the whole "yeah, we should definitely meet up in the next few weeks" when you meet an old friend/acquaintance... how many times have we said it, and how many times have we never met up with said friend/acquaintance!

Without knowing the specifics, I'm guessing his promise was something along those lines. Especially as you say it was something small.

I don't think it makes him a bad and inconsiderate person though... but if it's something that's a deal breaker for YOU, then that's fine too.

It may be a big deal for you, but a non issue for him... that doesn't mean one of you are right and the other is wrong...
