Missed collection

    Asking for the housemate

Has been claiming JSB and collecting from local PO, no problems with that

But whatever happened, got confused over the dates before Christmas and missed collection on December twentieth
The payment was to expire on December twenty seventh and he did head to the PO that day but it was closed.
It's a small local PO, it only reopened today

The postmistress say it was expired and to contact the welfare office. Said something about suspended too. I'm only passing on what I've heard

Has the payment been lost? Can they reissue it?

It's a once off, the guy have never missed a sign on date or missed collection before

If it's suspended then they'll reinstate the claim once he explains what happened but not the expired payment AFAIK.

He'll have to be ready to explain when he goes to SW how he not only forgot to collect on 20th but also forgot up until the post office closed for the holidays at 1.00 p.m., on Saturday, 24th Dec., Christmas Eve. However, given that the PO then remained closed until morning of Thursday, Dec 29th., they might look more kindly on it and release at least one week's payment back to the PO, though even that won't be immediate.

I'll update this just to close it off and maybe someone will search for it one day. Was asking the housemate at lunch

    Housemate headed down this morning.
Told reception, got a ticket and met an officer there

Got a much deserved bollocking for being disorganized
And when asked why he didn't collect it, just told the truth, mixed up with dates.

Ok it happens, won't be the first and won't be the last

The officer escalated to a supervisor to decide what to do. The supervisor rang accounts, confirmed the Christmas week payment had not been issued.
So they gave him a docket for the full amount and sent him to the local post office to redeem it

When you're in the wrong just admit it and be apologetic I suppose, advise for any situation
It'll get you further then demanding and arguing

    Issue resolved
