iv no card in my hd box iv just pluged it and want to upgrade how do ya do this. in others words i want to update the box does anyone no how to do this please

ok i tell ya i have another hd box i was using without a card and about two weeks ago while i was watching my box it just switched off its self and had to plug it out and when i pluged it cack in it had bbc 1 on 101 and bbc 2 on 102 and itv 1 on 103 and 104 is channal 4 and 105 u have channal 5. since then iv pluged in my other hd box i dont use but its did not get the upgrad for to work like my other box
