No, sure Hugh Hefner says its all about love.

That's why he has women young enough to be his grand-daughters, nothing to do with his millions in the bank.....

    Thousands. Hence why it's off-putting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,030 ✭✭✭✭Chuck Stone

    The question is too easy.

    It should be like...

Would you get married to a fat slob and have to stay monogamous with them (on threat of being burned alive) until they died - for money.

Of course, so long as they knew it was for the money and didn't have a problem with it.

Once upon a time not everyone in the world wants to get married. The End.

Dowries are still fairly common in rural Ireland. I was sold for 3 suckling pigs, a bale of silage and a tractor tyre.

    Short-term prostitution versus long-term prostitution.

(Not including any loving wives and girlfriends in that ... because some of them don't think of money)

I had a 7 year relationship which ended after I proposed to my girlfriend and she said no. It hasn't put me off though. I am still looking for my wife.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,058 ✭✭✭✭Abi

No, because I can't fake feeling something for someone I don't. Money only takes the sting out of bills. Lying to yourself would only make you miserable in a marriage.

Was it your love of hookers in the nearby apartment that put her off?

    No.
I wanted to have children, and she was a career woman who didn't want children. She didn't think it was fair to marry me as I would never be happy not having children.

well that's fair enough, but surely before seven years came along, you should have spoken about that?

    Very funny.
I have never paid for sex in my life. I can get that free.
Its a relationship that leads to marriage I have difficulty finding.

    Yes, we did.
The 7 year relationship was from when I was 21 to 28 years old.
When we started dating at 21 we didn't talk about marriage or children.
It was only in the latter years of the relationship at 27 to 28 it became a talking point. The thing is over the 7 years we both changed a lot, and what we wanted in life changed too. She wanted to further her career as a Doctor, and I wanted to settle down and have children. If I had been prepared not to have children, then we could have married. But I have wanted children for the last 10 years, and the desire hasn't got any less as time has gone on.

1980's Sinead O'Connor I would fight you for Sir, and probably win.

You mean she actually said she wanted children originally?

    I am 34 years old.

You mean she actually said she wanted children originally?

No, she never said she wanted children.
We talked about it over the years, but neither of us had any fixed views on marriage and children. It only became an issue where we firmed up our views when she became a Doctor, and I decided I wanted to have children.
I decided after 7 years I was ready to settle down and get married. She did too, but didn't want to have children; and I did. It wasn't something we could compromise on so we split up.

She was lovely in her Nothing Compares To You days, but looking at her now; you could have her. No fight needed.
