    Apologies if there is already a relevant thread but I'm a newbie so by-ball and all that...

    Anyway, just after seeing an item on amazon.com that normally retails for c.€420 going for €320.

    This is a relatively significant transaction to be making online (for me anyway).

    There is obviously something fishy going on as this particular item doesn't normally retail for such a low price unless it's second hand. Add to that the seller is only new and does not have any ratings and has not sold any items previously.

    I'm not willing to take the risk, but curiousity has got the better of me, what if I did go ahead and bought it and ended up being ripped off, what measures do the likes of Amazon and eBay etc take to prevent such occurances? I know if you use a credit card you get your money back however I would be using debit.

    Remember that if you buy online from the U.S.A you may have to pay customs charges if your item it checked by customs, so it might not work out cheaper than buying from an Irish store/website.
