Ordering child maintenance from dad in America

    Hypothetically speaking, if I was to order child maintenance from my childrens dad in America- We were married in America, legally seperated in 2005 after our 2nd was born. In the seperation aggreement, the lawyer stated he should be paying me $200 a week maintenance, taking into his income being self employed. We both signed it.
    He hasn't paid anything since he left us.
    Does anyone have a fair idea how I would go about applying for maintenance, having it in the seperation aggreement, does he owe me from that date we both signed it, or does it only start on the date I apply?
