Such threads get deleted if there is a legal question over the contents or as to actions in for example, the video the thread had.
As the video showed a possible crime happening - and comments were made, such comments could be prejudicial to a charge/trial if it was to happen in the future.

For that reason, Mods often take the decision to remove such things until there is a certain outcome - such as a guilty verdict!

thanks for the explanation biggins .

    Welcome. :)

Technically and legally, a person is innocent till proven guilty - so if such people was say... on a public forum... called openly before a guilty verdict, a certain class of criminal - that could leave the publishers (in this case boards.ie) open to the laws of legal "Liable" too.

To ensure safety and limited exposure, some things often have to be carefully reviewed and sometimes then removed as a precaution.

I was enjoying that thread and I can say now that it was OTT removing it from the forum.

If this guy gets prosecuted and it's a big if (more likely an adult caution would be applied) there is no risk of prejudice because it would be a District Court prosecution (no jury to be tainted). A District Court judge is above having his/her mind swayed by boards.ie or such like.

In any event there is nothing improper publishing CCTV to identify a suspected offender. How do you think Crimeline works?

    Really shouldn't have been removed.

Again - NOT speaking for the mods in this case of removal but - for court reasons alone, previously people have tried (alone) that their cases could not be heard as public and/or media have allowed evidence/circumstances to become tainted and/or too many various versions of events have been spun as to see that the actual truth is distinguishable from what is otherwise mostly fiction previously.

And again, as pre-mentioned, there is the area of "Liability".

I feel it should have been rightly removed - if only for the protection of boards.ie
Not because I don't care (or do) about any sod who might be so low as to jump from a cab without paying his/her fare.

O' and Crimeline works because it asks people to ring in with evidence/help.
    Not just make public comments!

As I have said that argument doe not apply here in this instance.

If there is a prosecution it will be heard in the District Court. There is no jury there only a Judge hearing the evidence. He/she is above influence.
