So Iv made a thread for Transfer of the Year and Flop of the Year, so now its Goal of the Year.

For me It has to be Rooney and his overhead kick vs Man City

if you could add vids of the goal then that would be great

    Pat Sullivan's goal v Partizan.

The greatest goal scored by an Irishman since Ronnie Whelan's v USSR in 1988.

Rooney's shinner wasn't even the best Premier League goal.

Anyway, these two for me -

Exactly, shinner. Wasn't even his best goal this year

    shels fan?:D

Sometimes a goal will stand out for years to come - like City's winner in the last minute of the last game to not only deny shels the title but to give it to city:D

Goals of the year mean different things to different people - 40 passes in the lead up - an individual strike from 40 yrds - or an occasion. For me it's the occasion of the above game, not necessarily the actual way the ball hit the net:rolleyes:

Some goals will stay with you for your lifetime - that one will for me.
Unfortunately, a goal that also stays with me is the " Michael Thomas has won the league for arsenal" one - for the 'occasion' a better ( or worse:() goal will probably not be scored.
You might disagree, but "rubbish" is a fairly pathetic one dimensional response, but whatever floats your boat.

Between Hassli and Neymar. Can't choose between them.

Since a theme of picking a goal from the team you support is emerging already..Best Rovers goal I can think of off hand probably Joey Ndo versus Portadown in the Setanta.

I'm just as big a fan of Gary McCabe's goal in the home leg, possibly moreso.

Meanwhile, Iniesta could have a thread of his own..

Interestingly enough Hassli's effort didn't win MLS Goal of the Year. That honour fell to Darlington Nagbe of Portland -

Hassli's was still better. Reminiscent of Maxi Rodriguez against Mexico in 2006.

The first touch to bring it down was perfect, the second to go past the defender was magic and the awareness to shoot near post rather than drill it across the goal (as the keeper would be expecting) was genius.

There are more spectacular goals but the technique and skill in this one, in a champions league match, vs Barca is amazing

Can barely see the screen through years of pride as I type. Pathetic, one-dimensional...sniff....thank you.
