What sort of standard are these tournaments? I'm only starting out but over 18, just wondering like how good would you need to be in tournaments or pub comps? I'd say Im a long way away yet but need to start somewhere.... :D

Players come in all standards. The better youths are almost as good as the seniors. You could play someone who finishes games in 40 darts or someone whose capable of doing 18 or lower. Best advice is go down and have a go. Either way you'll gain experience and can only learn from it.

Tournament organisers all around the country are being encouraged to stage Open Singles competitions for the youths - either in conjunction with senior events or as separate competitions.
They can be listed on this thread or on the Facebook page.

If you have any ambitions of becoming a darts player you should start getting involved in competitions.
Your game will improve from playing against better players.
Many of the youths have been playing from an early age {10-12years} and have been improving all the time.
Hitting 180's in your bedroom or your kitchen is a waste of time if you don't get involved !
    Get out there!

It was a great weekend for Youth Darts in Ireland with 14-year-old Dean Finn from Waterford and all of the other young players putting on a great show for the spectators at the 2012 Winter Darts Gala at O’Shea’s Hotel.
Dean was the big star as he won the 301 Double Start Singles competition on the Friday night with some unbelievable scoring and pin-point finishing as he eliminated many seasoned players on the way.
In the semi-finals he defeated Kerry’s Sean Marshall 4 – 3 and captured the title with a 5 – 0 victory over fellow Waterford player Kieran Lennon.
And he finished the final in style with an 8-dart leg with scores of 136, 121 and 44 check-out.
He won Round Three of the Ireland Youths’ Championship on the Saturday with a 3 – 2 win over John Jackson {Carlow} in the final and he went on to win the Tramore Youths’ Cup with a 3 – 0 victory over Murty Browne from Tipperary.
And Dean could have made it a clean sweep on the final day in Tramore but he was unlucky to go down 5 – 4 in the semi-final of the O’Shea Cup to the eventual winner Shane O’Connor.

Well done, Dean, you have set the standard for all the other young players to follow.
