    Hi,

Son accidentally knocked my Nikon D3000 with speedlight flash attached, off the kitchen worktop and onto the floor, flash first!

Flash works ok and camera works ok BUT, not together.

The flash mount on the camera was bent up on one side and also, the actual plastic camera body is cracked along the left hand side of the flash mount. It's a big enough crack that I can see wires through it.

The camera is still covered by Jessops 3 year 'repair plus' policy but I am thinking a new body/camera would be required as the body looks to be a complete moulded unit.

I'd ask zerohamster, probably is repairable.

I'd ask jessops first. I can't imagine why anyone would actually get one of those extended warranties if not for precisely this sort of situation. Check the warranty, and if it appears to be covered by it go in and demand it be fixed. There are probably all sorts of weasally clauses in them though.

depending on how good you are at fixing things...the metal connector looks like it could be bent back in to the correct shape and the cracked plastic could be glued closed...

    ■Electrical or mechanical failure

    ■Domestic and commercial use included

    +1.

    Specifically the bolded text.
    Hope you get it sorted.

My wife dropped and broke her speedlight and jessops took it in an repaired it with no questions asked. Really really great service and makes me glad we have all the kit with extended warrenties.

Don't worry its a Nikon! Just throw it in the bin and buy a nice new Canon! :D (Then again, saying that I did by myself a Nikon P&S for out and about earlier!)
