Got this as a present for the gf for the bedroom, turned it on and it was blank
Then put in the antenna from her old portable and brillant got all 8 saorview channels but then later on that night it was back to the old analogue tv with a fuzzy picture

Also is this a good all round saorview/digital tv?I could change it as have receipt

    user error i imagine..

try doing a complete reset, then retune only the digital channels.

Did a reset and it came back but the picture was frozen, then the 3 resets after that is like the old analogue type fuzzy picture

I was getting DTV the 1st time with channel names an now its says ATV in the top right corner when flicking channels

The internal aerial isn't good enough probably, you may have to invest in an attic or external aerial depending on the signal strength/quality at your location.

Dont really want the hassle of a attic or external aerial for a small bedroom tv.Just checked on the saorview that tv isnt approved?? yet instore had saorview sticker and sayd irish tuner on the website spec

Do you think i should change it for a another tv and add a few euros

If the current aerial isn't good enough, changing the Tv wont improve it.

I got the Tv in the understanding that its was ready to go and that was the whole point of Saorview better recepetion

Would a new indoor aerial or putting it near a window help

Saorview will give you better reception if the signal is of sufficient strength. That has more to do with your setup than the TV. Putting a small indoor aerial near a window could help if it's pointing in the right direction.

Can anyone tell me is this tv 100% Saorview or just irish digital ready

will i get all the text and programme info

Currys website doesn't explicitly state that it's Saorview-approved so presumably it's just an Irish digital-compatible tuner. For a definitive answer, try Currys' own forum here.

It's not on the Saorview approved list.

Seems to be primarily intended as a PC monitor but with a tv tuner included.

You said in your first post here that you received all 8 Saorview channels with that TV, no point bringing it back - it works. You just require the correct aerial. A Saorview approved TV won't improve your reception with a crap aerial.

Myself and my brothers have a number of non-Saorview TVs all working well with Saorview for a number of years with good aerial installations.

    Thanks for all the replys

Dont want to go to the expense of a roof aerial cause could be moving soon so any advice on an indoor aerial please?

Also seeing as its brand new i want to make sure i have all the Saorview text.programme guides etc
I didnt realise irsh digital tuner wasnt 100& approved Saorview

Have a look at the section on indoor UHF aerials on this page - http://www.techtir.ie/radio-tv/uhf-aerials.

If you decide to purchase one, don't spend too much. A cheap indoor aerial is as good as an expensive one if the signal quality is bad indoors. Try moving it to different positions in the room and check if the signal quality improves. If it doesn't an attic or external will be your next option.

Howld on a bar... See the bit where OP says:

"I was getting DTV the 1st time with channel names an now its says ATV in the top right corner when flicking channels"

These TVs have, say, 99 channels for DTV (Digital) and 99 for ATV (analogue). It sounds like you're flicking through the ATV channels rather than the DTV ones. This sounds like a problem my mother was having with her channels disappearing. Except her signal is analogue (UPC) and she was switching over to the DTV channels and "losing" hers.

I can't quite remember how to switch, but I can find out. In the meantime try hitting the "TV" button and see will that go back to the DTV list.
