    Are Nintendo points completely useless on a 3DS? I got the nephew points for Christmas and it looks like there no good on just the 3DS.

    Nintendo Points work on DSi and Wii.
    eShop Cash Cards work on 3DS and Wii.

    eShop Cash Cards also work on DSi.

    To the OP, if you know anyone with a DSi you could use it on that to buy DSiWare and transfer it to your 3DS. if that's any good.
