How to recover from a Christmas Day binge?

    Hi guys,

I promised myself today would be the one day I will let myself eat whatever I want and I went all out. I wasn't even hungry and just ate and ate and ate. Carbs carbs carbs, mostly sugar. Mindless carb eating was what got me overweight in the first place but I've shook off the majority of the weight now and won't go back.

Prior to this I was doing very well on a high protein diet with plenty of low carb veg and was (and hopefully still am) a few lb above my goal. I was steadily losing a half inch off waist and hips every week as well as a pound of weight.

How should I proceed from tomorrow, with getting back on track? Should I do extra exercise etc to make up for it, or eat less calories, or just carry on as normal? Should I eat more protein to try and burn more fat? (I find that what I eat, in terms of protein/carb/fat ratios, affects me as much, if not more, than calories.)

Eat to appetite. If you are not hungry (and you probably won't be) don't eat until you are.

And lots of exercise would help. There's a reason the Boxing day hunt is always the most popular one of the year.

Orienteering in 3 rock wood will start the day off on the right footing for me.
Didn't go too mad but have a pain in my tummy now telling me that I did eat more than I should :(
Looking fwd to getting home and curling up with a giant mug of peppermint tea.

What if I'm not hungry all day though? If I don't eat will that not slow down my metabolism? Or will 1 day just not be enough to really affect it?

My stomach is making all kinds of noises right now, assume it's all those Pringles...

You've forgetten about the effect on your metabolism of eating all day today?

Mind you, the whole "slowing metabolism" thing is taken completely out of proportion. You need to undereat for a long time to affect your metabolism. One day makes no difference one way or the other

    I've gained 2lb :(
Probably a combination of the binge and less exercise over Christmas :(

me also. gallon of beer does not help.

I started making green healthy food again yesterday. Bloating and uncomfort is beginning to lift.

planning a run when the weather clears up a bit.
