River feale in county kerry one of two dams built on the upper streches of the special area of conservation. Built three years ago by Kerry county council. No fish pases were built causing widespread flooding and fish kills of salmon not being able to get over the dams.

Disgracefull - but not suprising given the shambles that is planning at CC level in this country:mad: . A complaint to the EU is in order I would have thought:confused:

Was there any planning permission sought or any consultations undertaken? The River Feale supports populations of Freshwater Pearl Mussel doesn't it? Does it have a sub-basin management plan? What did Inland Fisheries have to say or were they consulted?

Grrrrr this kind of behaviour drives me nuts! There are at least 3 EU Directives and the Wildlife Act being ignored here!

Your dead right but i think the kerry county council took the law into there own hands and done what they wanted. Because of the scare of the bog slide they reacted without thought and like you said they broke alot of laws.
