Its that time of year again where some of the bdo guys switch to the money + glamour of the pdc

I wonder will martin adams becoming the chairman of the bdo change much?
or will it make more lads come over, i wonder is this the reason ted hankey is suddenly saying he would like a chance in the premier league?

im surprised scot waites didnt switch last year and go full time, hes good enough .. id like to see dean winstanly and tony o shea come over but i think the later might be to old now

whats the opinions of you guys?

o'shea has basically said hes happy and comfortable with the bdo circuit and wont switch.
if waites was going to switch he would have done it after winning the GSOD

dont see anyone switching anytime soon

I reckon Mr Hankey the Christmas poo may switch.

I hope he does to, he's a great character, and on his day, a great player

i think the players that will move IF they have a good World Championship are Winstanley
    Waites
    Hankey.

i think Winstanley or Waites are going to win the World's so if one of them do they are near guaranteed a Premier league spot

3 players that played in the 2011 BDO World Championship Dave Chisnall,Brian Woods and Shaun Griffiths all went to the PDC qualifying school last January and qualified to compete on the PDC tour along with ex BDO player John Henderson so It's nearly certain that some BDO players will be trying the PDC qualifying school again next January.

I've read rumours on other darts forums that the 2011 number 2 seed in Lakeside and 2010 Winmau World Masters runner up Stuart Kellett will be trying to qualify for the PDC next year. There's also been mentions of other BDO players who failed to qualify for next year's lakeside trying the PDC qualifying school. The 1 big issue here for players though is If you don't qualify from the PDC qualifying school can you stroll back into the BDO?

As for the current top BDO players the only 1 that might be tempted to jump ship to the PDC is Dean Winstanley IMO. Dean looked at ease in the Grand Slam last November on Sky Sports amongst the PDC players and produced brilliant darts that week in Wolverhampton.

If it's the case that the Lakeside winner will be given a wildcard for the Premier League then there's a good chance Winstanley will join the PDC because IMO he's in a great position to win next month's Lakeside title with the draw he has and personally I think he wouldn't turn down the chance of a Premier League place if that opportunity arose. However if Winstanley was not to win Lakeside I couldn't see him going through the PDC qualifying school system to join the PDC.

It says on the PDC Q school page that BDO players who reach the semis at the Lakeside are not required to go through the Q school in order to get their tour card.

    http://www.pdc.tv/page/NewsdeskDetail/0,,10180~2488438,00.html

So we're looking at four potential players from the BDO who could essentially walk onto the PDC tour. The big box office draw would of course be Ted Hankey. The PDC hasn't really had a proper villian since Manley disappeared from our screens, there've been a couple who've styled themselves that way but not in a way I believe, so Ted would be most welcome.

John Boy Walton made it through q-school got whipped in pdc and went back with no qualms at all so I dont think bdo are in a position to turn anyone away

I could be wrong here but I'm sure that the John Walton who played in this year's PDCQ school is not the John Walton of the BDO? I'm open to correction if it's the case that I'm wrong.

your prob right haha, I just presumed it was John Boy as he dissappeard from pdc lists right when he started appearing in bdo event. probably all in my head though.

They have to go through the Q school first.

Peter Evison also went back to the BDO 2-3 years ago but hes giving the pdc another go this year and has entered the Q school.

martin adams has competed in pdc tournaments in the past like the grand prix and world matchplay where he got to the semis in 01 in the matchplay. then a rule was brought in where bdo couldnt play in the grand prix or world matchplay, something along those lines.

i think hankey could make the switch from what he was saying in the GSOD

Judging by this- http://www.dailystar.co.uk/othersport/view/228238/Ted-Hankey-may-switch-codes/ There seems a decent possibility that Ted will make the switch. I think with 4 wildcards , Barney off form, Nicholson not backing up his mouth with his darts etc, that if Ted won the BDO title he could be offered a premier league place. However the likelyhood if him winning the title is slim due to the fact he is seeded 15th and will in all likelyhood meet Waites in the 2nd round. No doubt he would be great for the Premier League though, and I'm delighted that he is considering the switch.
