For me it has to be van der vaart..the man was top notch last season but this year he hasn't really hit the same height's as his first season..what's your pick?

Fairly injury plagued this season though isnt he?

Id go with Kuyt, played very well last season, utter ****e this season, same goes for Adam in that Liverpool team.

For my own club I think Evra has been on the slide for quite a while now and something needs to be done

Bigger ones are Johnson and Dann, great partnership last season, utter **** for their new clubs

To be fair he has a hamstring injury. I wouldn't class myself in the same category as him but I've a hamstring problem as well. If it's not 100%, and possibly even stronger than it was before, when you make your comeback then it'll go again and keep on going until you take the necessary time off and really look after it. I suppose if anything he's probably being rushed back too quickly from it rather than him being useless this season.

Might be a bit cheeky saying it but I'd nominate Tevez. He was fantastic at times last season. Big pity that he just seems to be a complete and utter plonker this season. He could be one of the best in the world if he bothered to put the team ahead of himself. A forward line of Tevez, Aguero and Silva would be unreal. From a United fans pov I suppose it's a good thing it hasn't happened.

EDIT: Just thought of another, Florent Malouda. He played some great football as well last season. What has happened to him now? I honestly had to check up just there now if he was still even playing for Chelsea.

Ashley Young and Nani were my first thought (not sh!t but off-form compared to last year) but N'Zogbia (thanks to Rebel for reminding me)takes the biscuit.

N'zog is a stand out but i cant help but blame mcleish, he should never have got that job.

He gets a hard time from the people that are unashamedly blinkered in their views but I firmly believe that he is one of the top wingers in England this season and doesn't look out of place on the European stage.

He got 9 goals and 18 assists last season. After 17 games of this season he has 6 goals and 8 assists. Statistically he is well on the way to replicating last season if not surpassing it. Also, with Vidic gone I don't think it'd be wrong for me to say that he is our most important player, along with Rooney.

Van der Vaart has 6 goals and 3 assists in 14 PL appearances. He's been pretty good when he's played in general. Nani has been up there with the best 5-10 players in the league yet again this season.

    The players who have had a significantly lower impact this season compared to last imo;

    Kuyt
    Nasri
    Bent
    Berbatov
    Tevez(obviously enough)
    Ashley Cole
Chamakh(was decent at the start of last season, utter rubbish now)
    Odemwingie
    Cech
    N'Zogbia
De Jong(Can barely get a game this season)
    Roger Johnson
    Dann
    Gary Cahill
Albrighton(might have scored the other night but poor other than that)
    Fabio

It's not that he's been poor, he's literally played like 3 matches all season and scored/assisted in all of them.

Bent's a good shout actually, his most disappointing season in a while so far. A player I like, hope he turns it around...

    Albrighton is it?

According to this, he started just 6 games this season with 7 sub appearances. 2 goals and an assist is what he has.

Thought he's been poor enough in most games he's played and must be poor in training too if he's struggling to start, especially since Downing and Young are gone.

Definitely expected a lot more from him this year.

Albrighton had a few games at the start of the season and didn't play well. Then he was left on the bench for about 10 - 15 games and came back into the team for the Bolton match a few weeks ago and has being playing well.

Lower impact due to not being on the pitch is slightly different to being "a bit **** this season" though, isn't it?

True, but many of them aren't getting on the pitch because they've been a bit **** in either training or when they've had their chance :D

Has to be N'Zogbia for me - moving to a bigger club you'd think he'd improve, not get worse. I suppose the same applies to Carroll too

Have you watched no United matches at all this season? Time and time he comes up with the goods. Sure he had a bad spell a few weeks ago but he's over that now and he's back firing on all cylinders, and it's no coincidence that United are back on form as well.

Very defensive response and I see you've trotted out the 'oul 'blinkered' line too. You couldn't be further from the mark but don't let that stop you from wheeling out the clichés if it serves to discredit. For what it's worth, I hold Nani in very high regard as a player and agree with your synopsis of him. I found him to be one of the most exciting players to watch last year and if I was put on the spot at the end of last season where I had to choose one a player from an PL opposition's team - it would probably have been him.

I don't believe last season was a flash-in-the-pan for him and still feel he's an excellent player (and unlike a lot of posters on here I can appreciate a good player even if he plays for a rival of the team I support)but watching him play this season regardless of the stats, I don't feel he's reaching the heights he did last season and beating players as easily as he can do. He can play some really exciting football but I really don't see it as much this season. My comment was not a slur on the player by any means as I think you may have construed.

**Edit** to clarify - In my opinion he's been off form this season compared to last. He most certainly hasn't been "A bit sh!t"

Sorry if I seemed to be attacking, it was a bit late when I posted and I didn't really check what I'd written.

I suppose you're right that he hasn't been as exciting. He certainly has been as effective though. The like-for-like comparison many people trot out is between him and Ronaldo. That argument was nullified at the start of the season with the stats from both players first 100 games.

Now I'm not saying he is the same player as Ronaldo or anything. Whereas Ronaldo specialised in goals scored Nani is primarily an assist machine. Look at United's games over the season so far. He had an assist in 2 1-0 wins for United, a 1-1 draw with Stoke and he got a goal and an assist in the 3-1 win over Chelsea.

With no creative midfielder of note and both Young and Valencia struggling for form he is the only midfielder able to make things happen. He's shown over the season that he's able to step up when needed. The excitement is definitely there but maybe he's not able to show it at the moment. Possibly defenders are aware to his threat now and they can afford to double up on him because there really is no other midfielder of note on form at the moment, (bar Valencia and Carrick perhaps).

For me anyway I'd have him over the likes of Gareth Bale any day. Bale is exciting in the sense that it's a fantastic sight to see him power down the line and clip a cross in. Skill wise he's not in the same league as Nani. He's unable to beat a man with quick feet or whatever.

I've no idea what I'm rambling on about here tbh. I've lost my train of thought from when I first hit reply.

I accept that he may be 'off form' with regards to the excitement that he can create, but I can't and won't accept that he has been ineffective.

I wouldn't say great but in terms of clubs then look no further than Sunderland.

I don't think there's a side anywhere in Europe that has regressed so much in terms of playing staff in the space of 1 season.

O'Neill has a hell of a job on his hands.

Bit harsh on Izzy considering he broke his ankle but Commons has been a lazy sod. Packed on the pounds over the summer, then got injury (probably because of the strain of carrying extra weight) and you see him mucking about in training without a care in the world when we werent playing well, ~12 points behind Rangers and suffering alot with injuries.

He's been very good in spells for Liverpool, very poor other times(see the Wigan game the other night). Fizzles out in too many games in the last twenty minutes as well.

He has no business playing in a two man CM unless it's beside someone who is defensively very competent like Lucas. He can be useful in a three man CM.

Also, his set pieces are over rated.

'very poor' is a very harsh judgement on the other night.

He's been between average & excellent since joining Liverpool for a fee around 6 or 7 million or whatever it was.

As such any attempt to include him in a list like this is retarded.

Overall he's been average imo. Very good in some games and poor in others, although good value for his transfer fee.

I wouldn't include him in this list as he's performed fairy similar to last year minus the penalties.

Gary Cahill for me. Looked like he could have been a world beater last season and just looks like any other run of the mill defender now. It might just be a dip in form of course but i'd say Bolton did'nt try to sell him last Summer as they would have gotten big bucks for him then.
