Anyone like an idea of designating X amount of car spaces to pay parking. Maybe 100 spaces and you pay X amount per semester. It would be a good money spinner and im sure some of us would happily pay for a space.

get up earlier ya lazy sh1te :p. they should give every student and staff member a parking permit to stop chancers taking up spaces. im convinced theres people not from the college using the carpark.

there should be a bit of common sense applied to clamping too. when that new crowd arrived last year they were clamping people who were well out of the way.

They should definitely have an area for car pool. Maybe have someone guarding an entrance to 200 spaces or so just to police it.

Would encourage more people to share lifts if they had a better chance of getting a space.

Theres already a car share section. Its usually handy for a space if you're late because it's not supervised.

That's the thing.. it's not supervised at all. No point even having the signs up for car share 'cos people don't pay any attention to them!

Well i drive up and down to college so parking is essential for me. Id happily pay for it. Its the people who live 5 minutes away that are an issue.

What? That's nonsense. How bout something equally ludicrious like introducing a sliding scale, if you live ten minutes away, you get to park two days a week, fifteen minutes away gives you three days a week?

They might live close, but they might have need of a car to carry instruments, or be unable to walk any distance.

If they're for all students, they're for all students, no matter where you or I are driving from.

Ok make people pay for it so simple answer imo. Those that need it will pay for it , obviously only limited pay parking tho.

So those who can afford to pay for parking will, and those who can't afford to, won't. That does nothing for people who need parking, only those who have the money to pay for it.

i think the answer is what i said already. get up earlier. i live near new ross and leave before 8 every morning just to get parking. you should have no trouble finding a space up to around 9 usually. theres always the RSC, the industrial estate across the road and ballybeg if not.

Friend has both wing mirrors and a back wipe knicked there towards the end of September on the one day we drove from Templars Hall.. couldnt find a spot in the college. pissing rain, so parked in there.
