    It was a bit daft to cut it.

    I still don't get Tim Minchin, though. In fact the last singing comedian I liked was Victoria Wood.

    Maybe they cut it because it wasn't funny? That's what I thought anyway.

    I suppose it is a Christian country.

    *cough*

    First time iv seen this guy he's ok i guess,the christmas show is probably the wrong show for this type of slander as J Ross put it "you av got some balls" he he !! think he liked it a lot but a censors advise would tell a different christmas story.

    I actually watched this show last night and you'd want to see the God awful ****e they put on in place of him. A hipster with lenseless glasses, a fat tub of crap and some chap that looked like he had just come from being gang banged by the faculty of Eton doing the worst rendition of 'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas' that has ever been performed anywhere outside of a homeless shelter. I almost vomited through a mixture of rage, contact embarrassment and shame of being a member of the same human race they were a part of.

    =======

    Happy Christmas everybody!

    "And then someone got nervous and sent the tape to ITV's director of television, Peter Fincham," he alleges.

    Minchin vs Fincham! :D

    I love Tim though I think this wasn't his best song probably because he was self censoring to suit TV. Here's a better one about the pope incase anyone still hasn't seen it:

    Have to disagree with above. Thought it was pure quality myself. For anyone else who agrees here's a link to another Christmas song from Mr Minchin ...

    This satirical song about the nativity has apparently been cut from ITV's Jonathan Ross show.

    Is this censorship?

    No, ITV are a private broadcasting company they have the right to decide everything that they broadcast. Censorship would be Minchin being stopped from performing the song in his own show, but if ITV don't want to broadcast it then it is up to them.

    If though Minchin was told his song would be broadcast in full then it is bad form on them and I wouldn't be surprised if Minchin doesn't go back on ITV programs again.

    I thought Tim Minchin was Duke Special's real name. Turned out I was wrong

    he wrote it in a week, give him a break, i don't know what ITV were looking for in J Ross if it wasn't for him to bring on people he likes

    Meh, I might appreciate it if it was in any way humorous or even had a catchy melody. It had neither.

    Perhaps it was a case of ITV not wanting to take flack from their customer. Or maybe it was just a crap song. Though I must admit that ITV have never seemed to have been overly concerned with the quality of some of their broadcasting.

    Nice flurry of piano playing at about 1 min 50 sec though.

    If anybody is interested in reading the views of other Christians on Tim's song then there is a short thread on it here.

    Is she a comedian? She's about as funny as the news.

    I'm not a fan of Minchin but his 'Pope Disco' song is very catchy, even though it's under 50 seconds long.

    I wouldn't expect a lot from ITV, he would be better off on Channel 4 or perhaps BBC2. ITV is a very family friendly station that goes for the 'safe' option. The most controversial programme they ever had was 'Take the High Road'. :P

    I think Tom Lehrer's effort is far superior. He's the chap who did the elements song.

    The Woody Allen reference seems to be founded on Munchkin's rather dodgy premise that Jesus was "short, Jewish and quite political". Well 2 out of 3 being reasonably likely ain't bad, I suppose.

    I think this act was designed and timed as a publicity stunt, which being not very funny, takes from some of his other excellent comedy acts.

    And thus it failed the universal comedy broadcasting formula;

    Likelihood of being aired = funniness /gratuitous offensiveness x The Christmas Constant

    The Christmas Constant being 0.8 and representing the seasonally "reduced testicular fortitude" of broadcasters at Christmas and Easter.

    In fairness to him, he did admit its not top-drawer stuff
