Taught this would be the best place to post this so here goes. Say I've bought a car (i haven't ..yet) and its in cork lets say. Is there any services that can transport it and deliver it to my door in dublin? Long story short im only learning to drive and i'm a fussy f#cker when it comes to choosing one, i like unusual/rare ones :)

I can get it viewed and collected but getting it back to dublin is the problem. I'm sure there's some sort of service that offers this ..would you reckon it be expensive??

From a private seller? I was in a similar situation before. The seller agreed to come to me with the car.

You could offer to pay for their transport back such as train. People are desperate to sell cars these days so I'm sure you'll find some willing to drop it to you.

Or do you have any full license driver friends that would go with you and drive it back up?

Or am I mis understanding your post entirely.

No you're talking sense man but don't even want to go there and ask him to come up. I've gave the chap the run around enough trying to sort out a plan. He will tell me where to go :o So far i can leave it in someones garden in cork and have the garden owner inspect it (he's a mechanic ..of sorts) but ..it would be a while before i get it up here and i have very little patience :D So a recovery type truck that would deliver it up here would be really really helpful!

Unfortunately most of my friends are learners and the ones that aren't are unhelpful c*#ts/women :mad:/:pac: so my only other option is my brother and he is married and she will moan that im stealing her husband. So again a truck would be the best option.

It will cost you a fortune to get it delivered that far. The only viable solution is the have someone drive it up I'm afraid. I really can't imagine such a service existing as not many people would do that.

If I were you, I'd get your full licence, which you should be able to get in Jan giong by when you started posting in the learners forum. Then go down and collect your car yourself. If it's rare, I'm sure noone else will touch it, especially with a deposit.

Getting it transported up will cost a bomb. Also, if you're really sreious about it (not that I'm condoning this sort of behaviour) why not go down and check it yourself and if it looks sharp, drive it up yourself? You seem a little wet behind the ears as far as purchasing cars goes at least. Buying a car from that distance, if it breaks down or some such, will break your heart.

What is the car anyways, if you don't mind my asking?

    was bout to suggest.

another person such as friend, poster etc. to move it for you ?

would need to be taxed and NCT'd ofcourse !

sure would make a day out for myself and cost me nothing to transfer my insurance for a few hours. (as i have done several times on replacement cars costing up to €26,000 with bigger engines ! )

sure now that i think of it a lil more.

i work nights and have all day to myself to do nothing along with weekends.

wouldnt take much at all to jump on a train down and get it back to dublin.

and im in dublin myself so getting home while in dublin isint a problem in the slightest.

just get the guy selling the motor to meet at the train station or could arrange a meet up point or whatever.

with corkie being in cork already (and kindly already offering to drive it) im sure he wouldnt mind meeting up too to view the car along with myself to make sure all is good and safe.

or then again if corkie wants to drive to dublin and train it back tis up to him :P
