Extremely helpful there, don't bother posting if you're gonna spout rubbish

OP, have you considered the implications for your insurance regarding modifications.

I will post if I want to.
In your opinion it might be rubbish,op does not have full licence yet and he is on about changing engines and so forth.
What is rubbish about learning to drive properly first?

Just concentrate on getting your full licence. If you want to modify the car, don't bother with the engine swap. Nice set of wheels, lowering springs and a nice splitter and she'll do ya well. Then, when you get a full licence, go for a more powerful car - be cheaper to sell your own car and buy a VTEC Civic at that stage than trying to make your 1.4 go like one.

Op putting 4k of an engine swap into a civic is crazy when you can get an Ek SiR for 2.5k.

Personally speaking from someone who modified a 1.4 ford focus with a kit and the all important induction kit and alloys and worked up to more powerful cars I have to say looking back I wasted a hell of a lot of money.

My advice is get your full licence and put down a years driving, then get yourself a levin or the vtec civic. Its gonna cost you in insurance etc but its the best way to go about it because it will cost you less in the long run.

Remember not only will you be doing an engine swap but theres alot more to go with it like brake upgrades etc. Its just not worth it.

I have a full licence soon, and i have a friend who works in Insurance company so i don't need to be worry about the big cost insurance ill get cheap one :). So i think i should put some sound system and maybe alloys and enought for the car as i will be able to take them off when ill get another car and put in it? I was goin to d shop 700euro for lowering 40mm and nice brand new alloys with tyres what u think of this price? and they will fit for free ofc. A bit too much, could i get somewhere cheaper?

lowerin springs - you could pick up a set for less then 100 quid these days

alloys - nice set of rota gt3 or something similar with good tyres can be got for 300-350 on donedeal

fittin them is easy peasy anyway

imo dont mod a 1.4, get a vtec but thats me i like vtec

BUT you could turbo it or do a frankenstein build up ( different parts from different honda engines to make a better more powerfull 1.4 or what ever)

As I suggested before is personally wait for my ncb to build up.

In terms of modifications there are two cost effective pats with civic.

    1. Sell it and buy a type r

    2. Buy a integra type r with a healthy ish engine. Send the engine away for rebuild.

Swap all the running gear over and sell all the bits you won't use. Keep in mind you need abs/srs to work etc

Also you'll need an asr brace. But it will be a sensibly oem feeling motor.

    Refit the refreshed engine.

You will need the ncb to insure either option.

I was thinking to put in the 1,4 change to 1,6 vtec ? but i think it will cost me more than buy a new civic vtec.?

Your cost for an engine box and ecu can be up on 900 - 1900 depending on box and engine.

Fitting I'm not sure. I can point you in the direction of a number of companies that will do it.

Insurance for me at 29 on a vtec with suspension, air filter and exhaust was 1100. For you it will cross the 2500 mark if anyone will cover it. I can see this being a big issue for you.

    Engineers report can be 250-500.

I personally would not run the 1.4 breaks on anything bigger than a 1.4.

Theses are all estimates and prices likely to be off.

As you can see over half tour budget will be taken by insurance. This is why I said above keep the car a few years and then modify it. I'd your insurance allows non power adding mode sort the basics first.

I wouldn't put cheap lowering springs onto a car, I've seen the results and some aren't pretty.

    I've just done an engine conversion on a Civic, there is a huge amount to it, we fit the following;

    B16 Engine
    Engine mounts
    Integra TypeR Box
    Coilovers
    Brakes & Hubs
    Airbox
    Driveshafts
    Gear Linkage
    ECU
    Exhaust Manifold
    Radiator
Engine & Dash loom (Although with an EK OBD2 you can run a wire for VTEC so a loom isn't required)

I've probably forgotten loads too, there's a lot more to it than just dropping in an engine and box

The most important ones being the brakes IMO - asking for trouble by power upgrades without touching the brakes. Especially with drums...

    1.6 vtec type r or 1.6 vtec

The money you're thinking of spending modding - put it aside. Then use it for a few track days to improve your own driving ability, and the change might cover some replacement tyres and discs/pads.

Honestly, the only thing you can really do to a 1.4 Civic that won't be a waste of time is a nice set of wheels to improve the way it looks, maybe a better stereo that you can keep for your next car, and maybe some light breathing mods (filter/exhaust). It'll sound nicer, but probaby won't have much effect on performance.

    1.4s sound ****e tbh.

Theres nothing wrong with throwing money at a 1.4 imo if its a clean shell and clean Civics are hard got. If I was you OP Id keep it Clean keep it simple.

first thing id do is get the car undersealed Civics are hoors for rust

Id do a 282mm brake conversion using MG ZS 180 Discs and Prelude Calipers and a rear disk conversion along with a ITR MC

15" 16" Buy used buying new is a waste of money tbh spend money on decent rubber

Suspension on the 1.4 Id use Type R suspension can be bought used cheap and is a better upgrade then lowering springs from here id get some sir swaybars the front is the same as a ctr but the rear is smaller to use a rear ctr swaybar you need a brace which is like 250 euro waste of money with a 1.4 polybushes wouldnt go amiss either

Engine wise Ive seen a d16 vtec intake manifold slapped on along with a ebay exhaust manifold and a decent exhaust make around 110bhp which tbh is very good for a 1.4 just keep the exhaust quiet.

Honestly this is the best way to modify a 1.4i imo
